Revenge Of The Egg People Get Merry
From ChartAttack.com
"St. Catharines’ Revenge Of The Egg People are back with bells on! After doing Christmas shows for eight years, they’ve decided to put together an album and Christmas will never be the same.
The album, Songs And Hymns Of Glorious Praise, is an upbeat, lighthearted Christmas rock album with a mix of classics and originals. It’s got the ones you know and love like "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Hark The Herald Angels Sings" with a harder edge… and then there’s some you might not be familiar with.
Songs like "Seasons Greeting Felony" tells the tale of a man finding Santa looking like Jerry Garcia in his house and shooting him in the head because "the noise down the hall scared the piss outta me!"
"The Elvan Song" is another original (transcribed from Elvish according to the liner notes) about disgruntled Elves making toys for rich kids while they slave away hopelessly and get abused by the Fat Man.
Not only are there songs of Christmas cheer, but stories too! "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" begins with drunken banter from Cashmere, Bug, J.A.M.E.S. and Bird. All together it takes the guys nine minutes to get the twelve days out between lighter-stealing accusations and mic-hogging threats. Almost every verse includes, "that’s my line – shut up!" The only part they could actually utter in unison was the "5 golden rings" part.
All in all it’s a funny, spunky album with the guys doing their unique rendition of how Christmas carols should be sung… hammered!"
