Bio

While only being together for a short period of time "Throsby Drive" have shot to a sudden success within their local area and are slowly getting recognised as one of Australia's best upcoming talents! A young band ranging from the ages of 19-21, they have been banging on pots and pans and singing since they could talk and walk and have a passion for music that has been imbedded in them by their woodstock generation parents!
Throsby Drive have a sound quite unlike any other band around with a chick rock singer that was once described as sounding a like "Norah Jones on Viagra" they have a freshness about them that is really quite unique!
Throsby Drive is actually the street where Weerona College is located. It was here that the band first met. All enrolled at the University of Wollongong, Ed, Ross, Eric and Bella were all residents of one of the Uni's finest college's "Weerona"! They formed together in April 2005 for the Uni Arrive Alive Band competition. A week before the application for the band competition was due, the band sat down and quickly put together a couple of songs. Having ten minutes left to think of a name before they put their application in, one of them looked up to the street sign and without much time to debate the band was christened "THROSBY DRIVE".
"Throsby Drive" was pulled out of the hat for the round three heat of the competition and so with 3 weeks jamming away the band miraculously came 1st! Overwhelmed at such a sudden success they started taking themselves seriously and jamming together everyday.
A week before the band competition finals were to be held in August 2005, Throsby Drive were called by the Uni bar, who were so impressed with their performance, and asked if they would be the support act for Thirsty Merc! Shocked with excitement the band immediately said yes. The gig went down well and was a great practice before the band comp finals.
Throsby Drive now had started gathering a following of uni students with tremendous support from their fellow college residents.
The finals came and the result was phenomenal, Throsby Drive not only got 2nd place over all but also WON the People's Choice Award!
The band could not believe how well they had done in such a short period of time and so decided to stay together and keep playing. They played numerous local gigs at the Oxford Tavern, Palm Court Hotel and even supported Thirsty Merc again at the Shellharbour Worker's Club! With the money they made the band decided to make a demo so they could get more gigs.
A two and a half day total of recording, mixing and mastering and here is Throsby Drive's first self titled EP!
