Bio

BeginningsEdit

Through the Static first started in October 2007 as a cover band/side project during High School. The very first lineup of TTS consisted of founder Jen Nelson (lead guitar/vocals) & bassist Josh Wein (shortly replaced by bassist Shannon Earl), Jess Fresh on rhythm guitar & Melissa Kuroly on percussion. The band would cover artists such as Blink-182, Weezer, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, System of a Down, New Found Glory etc.

Through the Static made there very first live debut in 2008 where they preformed at the Patchogue-Medford High School Variety Show. Shortly after, the band started playing out locally at “The Wave” in Patchogue & the "Beach Hut" in Cedar Beach. In 2009, the band started writing original songs. The first three being "Chestnut Ave." “S.G.R.” & “Mars”.

Prior to the variety show, founder Jen Nelson had left the band because she had “found god” — and a boyfriend. The band decided to press on as a three piece until they could find a permanent singer. After many awkward try out sessions from candidates from craigslist, Jess Fresh stumbled upon Amie Colosa.
Crash & BurnEdit

Amie officially joined Through the Static in August of 2010, making the band a four piece once again. With the addition of Amie, the band started to take a more serious approach with music & songwriting. They began work on new songs (“Dense” & “Out of State”), recording there first EP entitled "We Can Do It" and played out of state (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey) on their "Road Stop Mini-Tour" in May of 2011.

Shortly after the bands first mini-tour, Amie Colosa suffered from a bad case of lead singer syndrome and was ultimately kicked out of the band due to various problems with booking. Percussionist Melissa Kuroly left the band shortly after Colosa due to reasons unkown (the band has a sneaking suspicion it was a combination of things -- Colosa's absense, a lack of dedication, funk music, drugs, and a hippie boyfriend.)
ChangesEdit
Founder Jess Fresh' was also in a street punk outfit called "Retro Viral''(2009-2011) with Justyn Kiddo (lead vocals), Amy Hettrick (Drums), Alex Korpi ''''''(Bass)', & Rob Miller (Guitar/Vocals) that played directly in the Long Isl

and Hardcore Punk Scene. Through Retro Viral, Jess met current vocalist Amie "2.0" Bernstein & Kashmir Manas (Bass).
Right NowEdit

Right now, Through the Static is playing shows, and working out the kinks with their new line up. They are planning to be on a split with The Ghost Network in November and are hoping to release a new EP asap. The band has 16 songs written, and hopes to record a full length whenever they have the necassary funds.

TTS is searching for a female drummer and guitarist to round up their line up. If you know anyone interested please feel free to contact the band at: throughthestaticband@gmail.com.

Stay tuned to the static.
