Bio

Thru Unseen Eyes began its journey as the late "SpiritFire Free" in Massillon, Oh, in the summer of '07 as a 4 piece act with temps for live shows. Very quickly, lead vocalist Mike Compton, lead guitarist Adam Robinson, and rhythm guitarist Ben Mutchler, parted ways with SpiritFire Free and became known as the current, Thru Unseen Eyes. Now, having a core line-up, new name, and new vision, they sought out a drummer in Dru Yost. The foursome met via internet musician networking, and Dru joined after leaving the band Post Mortum. Mike Compton began his music career in the church, leading worship and things of that nature. After 3 and 1/2 years of college he decided that route simply wasn't for him and began to seek an already established band with the same musical interests as himself. He posted a profile on bandmix.com and very quickly came into contact with Adam Robinson, and joined SFF. Adam had spent most of his youth and young adult days overcoming obstacles, and finding a sense of purpose and strength through his faith. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and simply has not put his guitar down since then, literally. There was immediate chemistry with the two artists, however the line-up was far from complete. Soon after Mike's entry into the band, Ben Mutchler was referred by a friend to sit in on a practice for SFF and upon his first experience with Mike and Adam, saw instantly the chemistry he would soon have with the band himself. Ben has played the piano for the past 13 years, and the guitar for the past 7 years. Ben became inspired by a piano piece by ragtime composer Scott Joplin, "The Maple Leaf Rag". He quickly learned to play this piece and realized he could learn anything he set his mind to, therefore soon after he picked up the guitar as his next instrument to conquer. With his extensive background in piano, Ben has the uncanny ablility to write incredible music, sure to keep any listener entertained. By mere coincidence and luck he chose himself to enter the band. Soon, they parted ways with their old drummer and re-named themselves Thru Unseen Eyes, giving the band a new meaning and a new angle on their creative vision. After a short break playing live shows, Thru Unseen Eyes decided it was time to get back in the live circuit and began their search for drummer, Dru Yost. The four found instant chemistry, blending their musical interests and abilities to form an original sound an original focus, all their own. Currently the band is focusing on the release of their new EP, produced by Rick May, who is the drummer of the late multi-platinum band DC Talk. Singles such as "Scarred" and "Part of Me" are sure to set the band apart from many of the up and coming artists of our time. Influences for the band include: 12 Stones, Thousand Foot Krutch, Incubus, Korn, Metallica, Trapt, Pillar, Red & Breaking Benjamin.
