"Another side of heavy metal with Thunderbox"

There is a perhaps surprisingly large demographic of our society for whom the concept of heaven would be a heavy metal tribute band comprised of hot babes.

If so, Saturday's doorman at the Backstage Rock Bar in Groton will be St. Peter - because that's when and where Long Island's Thunderbox hits town. And just because they're female doesn't mean this is a watered-down set list with goofs like Poison.

Indeed, look for blistering renditions by the likes of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Motley Crue, Danzig, and AC/DC.

What else is cool? Well, Thunderbox drummer Natalie Mustang is a New London native. Plus, virtually every picture ever posted of Thunderbox shows the women holding beer or whiskey. In other words: they're the real deal.

Bio

Hailing from New York, Connecticut and Brazil comes the all-girl supergroup THUNDERBOX, performing their own brand of the best of classic Heavy Metal and Hard Rock.
THUNDERBOX features a blistering live stage show and an impressively heavy set list, featuring songs by the metal greats like Iron Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, Motley Crue and Judas Priest.
To attend a live THUNDERBOX show consists of a night of throwback memories to the days when hard rock reigned in the 80s – over-the-top stage presence and jaw-dropping guitar solos – all performed by a group of some of best female talent found on the East Coast.
The girls of THUNDERBOX are a group of seasoned and professional ladies that explode onstage with their signature mix of an energy, raw sex appeal and skill.
THUNDERBOX boasts an ever-growing rabid fan base, and is dominating the live music scene in New York and beyond, (and as one fan puts it) "reminding everyone what rock-n-roll is all about".
