Bio

This songwriter, singer, and musician of Maloya has illustrated himself since the end of the 70’s as a cutting-edge musician. In the 80,s, Ti Fock is one of the most adulated artists in Reunion being able to count on a solid basis of fan appreciating his innovative qualities.
Native of Reunion Island, Ti Fock was born on the West Coast in Saint Paul. Born from musician parents, very early he is interested in music. At six he went on stage with the orchestra of his father (TITIAY ORCHESTRA), and played his first chords in small balls on Saturday night for fifteen years. One day he discovered a guitarist, Jimmy HENDRIX. It was as if he has met an alien, he will be traumatised in a good way, and music became his profession.
Ti Fock is one of those obsessed musicians, one of those artists tempting their experiences at the “off-beat” of good aesthetic and political thought of the moment. Reunion first artist to have attracted interest beyond the shores of his island, Ti Fock is undoubtedly an original artist, insightful and opinionated, which will mark the musical history of his island, Reunion.
Ti Fock “the Reunionese magician of rhythm and verb” is a small young guy in his sixties, mixed Chinese and African, which has known how to draw from all his roots a great musical genius to play with the sounds of words. Add to that an impressive imagination concerning arrangements and squared-work, and you will have the “ti Fock style”, resolutely original and unique. What he sings is “Maloya”, this blues from the island essentially Afro-Malagasy, song of slave resistance, fusion of ternary rhythms and African percussions.
In 20 years of career, Ti Fock has launched 4 albums highly rated and has gone all around the world with big names such as James Brown, Santana or Ray Baretto, and for many stars from the Hexagon, from Lavilliers to Noah, Ti Fock is a reference.
Undisputed leader of Electro-Maloya, Ti Fock is back on the front of the stage to reveal his music tented of traditional Maloya, jazzy ambiance and electro fused with Otisto 23… Till today, Ti Fock remains an innovative, unclassifiable and an absolute musician for the Reunionese music.
