Bio

Tiger Cry is a Chicago folk-rock band with lovely guy/girl harmonies, driving guitar, old-school organ and thick upright bass: a beautiful storm of charm and sway.

Tiger Cry is two songwriters, Nicolette and Adam, a couple, who switch off on guitar and organ, with Josh rounding out the band on bass.

Tiger Cry released their debut album, Wild Violet, in August 2011. Wild Violet was recorded by the band in a crammed bedroom of instruments: a white upright piano Josh found in an alley, a rented upright bass that they often had to record in the hallway (where Motzy, Josh's dog, would try to get in on the recording), a resonating bell set in a box, a student Rhodes that sounds like a telephone and made it on almost every song (so good, that Rhodes), an accordion that came with the original receipt from 1954 (and became posessed halfway through the session) and joyous amounts of hand percussion.

Tiger Cry's live shows are rambunctious, joyous and full of an intimate charm: they're apt to break into a cappella harmonies, throw on some Beach House-esque spare drum action, or fuzz it up with a heavy dose of the Big Muff.

Tiger Cry started out very folky, but have been moving towards a thicker, more electric sound. They implement more electric bass and guitar with every show, and are even going a bit towards pop. Pop is fun.
