Bio

Our band is called Timbre. We wanted a name that was short, significant, classy, pretty, musical, a little thought provoking, and fun to say. The band consists of me, Hannah Sue Wellman(vocals) and my sister, Molly Jane Wellman(keyboard). We also like to incorporate harmonies(Molly) and the occasional violin(me). In the future we hope to keep adding instruments and experimenting with sounds, but for now we like to keep things clean and simple. We like structure when it comes to our songs and we firmly believe in the power of a solid melody and rhyming lyrics--a catchy tune and snappy words help to put the "song stuck in head" factor into effect;) I do have trouble classifying our music though, we're sort of a piano driven pop/alt rock band with some jazz thrown in.

We started our band about a year ago. We've been singing and playing pretty much our whole lives and when we were younger the idea of starting a band was always a running joke between us, but then one day a song popped into my head and I asked Molly to help me write it down. That's when it started. We wrote our first song called, "Can't Wait Forever". Since then we've come up with a dozen more songs, enough for the album that we hope to see someday.

When it comes to writing our songs, typically I'm the lyricist and Molly takes care of the rest, but our music is a true collaboration, there's really no way to separate out what's hers and what is mine. We're a team and I think that's what gives our music a solid foundation. We're always on the same page and we can just really give and take from each other until the end result is just exactly what both of us are looking for. We're very open to each other's ideas with the main goal of making our music the best it can be. We push each other to keep going and most importantly we share an immense passion for our music and a faith that we can succeed.

One more thing that me and my bandmate share is the source of our inspiration. As sisters we've had the opportunity to go through life together,to experience things at the same time, and to be there for each other through it all. It makes it that much easier and more enjoyable to know exactly where the other one is coming from with each new song idea. It becomes so real and special to both of us, and really makes us want to share these songs with others and connect them the way we were connected by them.

Of course, we were also inspired by the music we love. My sister and I both agree that, hands down, the two best bands in the world are Coldplay and Keane. I feel that they redefined our whole perception of music and that they made us realize just how much music can affect a person, by how it affected us. They've had more than just an influence on our songs, they've inspired our music itself in the broadest, deepest sense. It made us realize how much music can mean to a person and how music can change the world. Good music can lead to a better world, and that's what we're striving for. There's not much we can say about our music, we just hope that it speaks for itself.
