Twanging Chad
You hear Tim Chad and Sherry and you think: Country lounge act, Ramada Inn, early 1980s, "Love Is Just a Sin Away." Brian Kotzur, leader of a band called Tim Chad and Sherry, which includes neither a Tim nor a Sherry, probably thinks the same thing. He's funny that way.
Kotzur even injects a little country lounge act now and again into his songs, although it's at a high level. Mostly Kotzur expertly walks a fine line between satire and genuine emotion with his Nashville-based band, which includes members of Lambchop

Rounding out the lineup is Tim Chad and Sherry. Led by drummer Brian Kotzur, Tim Chad and Sherry are a dynamic hodgepodge of lounge meets country funk. Their songs hook you with slinky grooves, exploding without warning into electric jams that build up to a whirling point, then come crashing back to earth. When Kotzur steps out from behind the drum kit to perform “Love Is,” his charisma reminds you of a tent revival preacher giving a sermon—and you can’t help but be sold. Springwater —ERIC WILLIAMS
