Tim Dougherty

Smart, get-stuck-in-yer-head type of tunes. Rooted in tradition yet striving to find their own voice. Ever so humbly following in the giant footsteps of Woody, Bob, Greg Brown, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, and the hordes of songwriters trackin' the muse.

A migrant Pennsylvanian born to young, jolly Irish Catholics, Dougherty's songs traverse the varied spectrum of human experience. Songs for workers, lovers, seekers, drinkers, hawks and doves, footstompers and toetappers alike. They please the purist with their unique takes on familiar themes, and draw the ears of passersby with wit and melodic grace.

A continually evolving list of influences:
Currently conversing with--well, mostly listening to and learning from--the work of Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Sam Beam, Sufjan Stevens, Jeff Tweedy, Devendra Banhart, Thamusemeant, Old Crow Medicine Show, Woody, Doc, Mississippi John Hurt . . . might as well stop, but we know it never ends!

Chautauqua -- 2002, Self-released--and mostly to good friends--from 4track basement recordings.
