"Time Travelers Release Stormalong, and Here's Why You Should Listen To It"

Every song is an intoxicating blend of elegantly memorable lyrics coupled with beautifully complementary instrumentals. These are the types of songs that elicit a spectrum of emotions in a matter of two minutes – and that’s a rare feat indeed. - See more at: http://www.thesnapdownload.com/2013/05/18/time-travelers-release-stormalong-and-heres-why-you-should-listen-to-it/#sthash.e2cSBAaG.dpuf - The Snap Download

"Time Travelers - “Vacationland EP” (Album Stream + Download)"

Time Travelers have released a name-your-price EP titled “Vacationland.” Recorded in Maine before relocating to Brooklyn to pursue music “Vacationland,” is in the same lane as The Dodos and Grizzly Bear. Enjoy this stream/download. - Vibe To This

"Full EP: TIme Travelers - Vacationland"

The sonorous folk-rock of Time Travelers potentially could make someone run around naked in a forest. The album cover implies as much. This Maine-based group, now living in Brooklyn, craft free-spirited and optimistic tunes much in the vein of Fleet Foxes, Warm Weather, and Local Natives. Their newest release, Vacationland EP, is a collection of songs the band recorded in Maine one month before relocating to Brooklyn. It’s available for free on their Bandcamp.

“Time Travelers formed several years ago when we were all college students together in Maine,” the band wrote. “We spent months cooped up in the long, cold winters, writing songs and playing shows, all drawn together by the mutual agreement that being in a band was really the only thing we could or wanted to do.” A major highlight on the EP is “Abalone”, where a droning guitar progression expands into a rich, swirling fusion of Appalachian folk and alt-rock. This expansion occurs after the drums emerge dexterously, which also prompts the vocals to kick their intensity up a notch; the likeness to Robin Pecknold is hard to miss. Time Travelers’ sound is more electric and upbeat, though with the same sort of stoned-in-a-forest folk-rock sound we’ve come to love. - Obscure Sound

"Introducing: Time Travelers"

"In the interest of journalistic integrity, writer’s often present a disclaimer if and when they write about friends and family. There is a presumption that acknowledging ones affiliations is both necessary and informative for the reader. So, to appease convention, I admit, I know these guys. Not only did I have the good fortune of attending college with them but I also may have belonged to me a rap group that opened for Time Travelers back, back, back in the day (*cough* check out http://www.myspace.com/soposound to learn more *cough*) .

However, to reduce my interest in covering Time Travelers to shady favoritism is a huge mistake. This abundantly talented quartet is finely tuning their sound through almost nightly concerts and tireless practice. As a result, there is a stark difference between the music I heard from Time Travelers’ back in 2009 and that of their recent EP, Bed of Roses (check it out at their Facebook page). Pop sensibility and gorgeous harmonies drive this EP and signal a step in the right direction for this young group. Perhaps when you listen you’ll be reminded of melodic classic rockers like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or contemporary indie-folk bands such as Fleet Foxes and Local Natives. Nevertheless, don’t be surprised if you are at a loss for comparison. There is something both recognizable and novel about their sound.

In their own words:

Time Travelers formed in 2008 by four students at Bates College in Lewiston Maine. Edward Sturtevant (vocals, guitar, keys), Andrew Wilcox (vocals, guitar, keys), Travis Brown (bass, backing vox), and Ben Latham (drums) all met on campus and were drawn together by the desire to perform original music in and around the college. They gathered a following on campus, and momentum picked up for the four.

An unfortunate year-long hiatus through the fall of 2009 to the spring of 2010, due to the fact that band members split to go study in different parts of the world for opposite semesters, provided a time for Sturtevant and Wilcox to work on a whole host of new material, as well as gave the band time to gain focus and vision. The resulting catalogue has taken on a new life in the band’s now refined, energetic live show. Time Travelers seek to propel their songs forward not just through their driving rhythms, but also through layered melodies and harmony.

Look out for more on Time Travelers here at Playtonic Dialogues, but in the meantime, check out their myspace page and, if you find yourself in Maine, go see them live. Chances are they’ll be playing." - Playtonic Dialogues

"Review: College Night at The Apohadion Theater (3/19/11)"

"...This was Time Travelers’ first show in Portland, but they played it like they were seasoned pros, turning The Apohadion into a dance club. But don’t let that mislead you. The band doesn’t play heavy-grinding techno music; they’re a folk band with that psychedelic Beach Boys sound that’s been oozing into the mainstream for the past few years—and that’s just my take from their most recent recordings.

Playing live, they brought the demeanor of a jam or funk band, and it even translated in their sound with the way their picks swung at the guitars. Their style of play begs for the biggest of stages, and it’s clear the audience wants it. If the promoters in Portland catch on, we might see a lot of Time Travelers in the future." - Dispatch Magazine
