"Lehigh Valley band TimeWhy?s perform 60s, 70s music in Kutztown"

Lehigh Valley based 60s and 70s band TimeWhy?s make their first appearance in the Borough of Kutztown Concert Series in the Park on June 22.

The free concert will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kutztown Park Bandshell.

"This eastern Pennsylvania band, inspired by the creativity of the Beatles and other 60s groups, debuted in 2013 and strive to reproduce many of the intricate details of the original performances in the songs they play," according to the band's profile. "Listeners have been impressed by the quality of their vocals and harmonies, so much so that the Lehigh Valley's leading newspaper, the Morning Call, presented TimeWhys with their Readers' Choice 2017 and 2019 award for Best Local Band."

The five-piece band consists of Tom Drago, Gene Cullison, Mark Johnson, Frank Drago and John Harkins. They will take you on a magical 60s and 70s experience as you twist and shout to the greatest music of our time.

Think back to an era filled with freedom, good times, free spirited music of the Woodstock era and the years that followed with that music explosion of the late 60s to early 70s. It was a decade that influenced the start and popularity of great bands that span different genres of music like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Lovin Spoonful, the Spencer Davis Group, BTO, Jimmy Hendrix, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys, The Hollies, The Young Rascals, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Nazareth, The Who, and many more. This was a time when wonderful music featuring vocals, lyrics and guitar and keyboard solos could be heard on your favorite AM radio station, at school dances, and hanging out with the gang.

The band reproduces many of the intricate details in their vocals and instrumentals of the original artists’ performances. TimeWhys believe you should remember the songs the way they were presented by the great artists that introduced them to you decades ago.

TimeWhy?s has been a very popular show in the Allentown and Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas and hopefully many can join in the free concert fun as we bring their entertainment to the Kutztown area.

Come early for a seat in the covered bandshell, or bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit in the lawn area, or you can even hear them from the playground and sandbox area.

The park concession stand Mad Dogs in the Park will be open before and during the concert, with a variety of hot dogs, wraps, salads, various varieties of fries, chicken tenders, and many other items for your enjoyment.

The concert is free to the public and is part of the Borough of Kutztown 2019 Concert Series in the Park, and will be held rain or shine in the covered Kutztown Park Bandshell. - MediaNews Group

"Late August Roundup"

TimeWhys-Autumn of Love EP. The oddly-punctuated TimeWhy?s is a Pennsylvania band who unabashedly make 60s-inspired music, leaning to the Beatlesque. Their 4-track debut EP is a treat. "Paint Me Happy" is Herman's Hermits-meets-The Association, "Lying Through Your Lipstick" sounds like a mid-Beatles Lennon track, "I Said Hello" seems inspired by "Penny Lane" and "All I Know" draws from George Harrison via The Beach Boys. Definitely a year-end contender for the best EPs of 2017 list. - Absolute Power Pop

"TimeWhys “Autumn of Love” EP"

The weirdly named TimeWhys are new sixties-inspired band from Pennsylvania. Fans of Beatlesque pop will rejoice in the short, but effective slices of nostalgia. The swirling “Paint Me Happy” is a bouncy psyche-pop gem akin to Two Sheds Jackson and the slower Lennonesque “Lying Through Your Lipstick” is very much like The Pillbugs.

Each song is a sonic sugar rush for fans for ELO, Pilot, Klaatu and similar late-era Beatle influenced bands. Shame it’s only four tracks, but I’ll take quality over quantity any day. Highly Recommended. - Power Popaholic

"Cool! Diggin' it!"

“'All I Know', lovely! 'Lying Through Your Lipstick' vocal sounds like Jamie Hoover [Spongetones] with 10cc background vocals. Cool. Diggin' it!”

Bio

TimeWhys perform the great classic rock of the 1960s, 1970s and beyond, recreating those captivating times when songs by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who filled the airwaves. Their SoundCloud recording of the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City" has been played over 200,000 times! This Lehigh Valley band reproduces many of the intricate details of the original performances in the songs they play, because they believe you should hear these songs as you remember them. Listeners have been impressed by the quality of their vocals and harmonies, so much so that the Lehigh Valley's leading newspaper, the Morning Call, gave TimeWhys the Readers' Choice Award for Best Local Band in 2017, 2019 and 2020!

In keeping with the creative spirit of the Sixties, TimeWhys also compose and perform original music. In July 2017, they released a four-song CD, Autumn of Love. The songs are also available for digital download and streaming from various sources including iTunes, Amazon MP3, Google Play, and Spotify. For the recent Lehigh Valley Music Awards 19, TimeWhys were nominated for Outstanding Band/Duo, Outstanding Album (Autumn of Love), Outstanding Song (“Lying Through Your Lipstick”), and the LVMA 19 Discovered Artist Award.

TimeWhys is a group of professional, accomplished musicians with positive, friendly attitudes, who are willing to make every possible effort at making their performances successful, including the use of social media to keep our fan base informed. We believe there is a huge demand for music that’s performed faithfully and energetically.

Dan Hugos, Mauch Chunk Opera House co-manager and former Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival organizer, said in 2015, "TimeWhys performed for us for the first time at this year’s Fall Foliage Festival. They had a large crowd for their entire set as people were definitely enjoying themselves and listening to the music. TimeWhys had no problem with even tricky numbers, and they did tunes we all knew. As festival organizers, that’s what you have to have – people having a great time, and the music transporting them there. We’ll have them back next year for sure – highly recommended!"
