Open Your Eyes

Written By: Tim Gallant

enter the serpent
(why hello -
I'm so pleased to meet you)
crafty and wise
grasp the forbidden
(why doesn't He want you to eat?
I think you know)
open your eyes
(He's jealous!)

who's guarding the garden
(why so strong and silent)
who's guarding the bride
(standing idly by)
protecting the woman
(it's a cruel science)
this rib from your side
(would you watch her die)

challenge the goodness
an evil surmise
grasp the forbidden
open your eyes

who's guarding the garden....

grasp the forbidden
open your eyes
(it's a wise man's tale)
oh, it opened our eyes
(but the science failed)

to life in sorrow
and death in tears
no tomorrow
we spend our years
away from home
(it's a wise man's tale)
away
away
away from home

Aftermath

Written By: Tim Gallant

two sons will sacrifice
one rejected, what's gone wrong?
one son kills, one son dies
and so soon the cycle's on

we're always falling back it seems
we're born into these years of wrath
living on these hopes and dreams
(we are running out of steam)
and living with the aftermath
(crushing down the sons of men)

when will it be over
how long must we pay
how long till the promise
finally finds its way
sometimes I think I've made it
but it always dogs my path
how long must we live
(how long must these tears fall down)
with the aftermath

two lines live side by side
Cain's daughters have those eyes
sons of God apostatize
and now soon the waters rise

and it feels like the aftermath
yes it seems just like the aftermath

just as soon we're on land
and the cycle starts again
world is new but how to ban
these defiling arts of men

and it feels like the aftermath....

we're always falling back it seems....

when will it be over....

how long must these tears fall
how long must we cry....

Rivers

Written By: Tim Gallant

are you still crying those rivers
I can hear your tears
falling down your face
I can see those scars
I cannot erase
well, the pain won't be forever
and somehow even now
behind these prison doors
we can reach we can touch
what we're longing for

hope that is seen is not hope
that which has been is not faith
it's enough knowledge to know the pain
can't last forever
Christ is the answer, we know
but life holds no hope without death
and I can only offer my arms
on this side of heaven

yes, we're still falling like children
but just the same we can laugh
we can fly just as the birds
dirty face, dirty hands
humans cleansed by living Word
and it's heaven that makes us willing
and puts our feet on concrete
and our shoulders on each others
in His hands there we stand
and we lean on sisters and brothers

yes we're still crying these rivers
yes we're still falling like children
but no we don't despair as if defeated
His strength's perfected in our weakness

hope that is seen is not hope. . . .

how I long just to hold you
you can cry on my shoulder

as long as we're falling like children
I will be falling beside beside you
as long as you're crying those rivers
I'll still be drying your eyes

as long as you're falling
as long as you're crying
as long as I'm alive
I'll still be drying your eyes
I'll still be drying your eyes
