Known for his guttural voice that bears a captivating, rustic quality, Tim is lovingly claimed by the legendary Boston music community, where he has been playing music for over 25 years. Gearan continues to collaborate with an amazement of artists in Boston and beyond.

Biography

Tim is sought after by countless musicians for uninhibited soulful guitar playing, creative soaring abilities and song writing collaborations.  After 10 years of touring nationally and abroad as a sideman guitarist for Toni Lynn Washington, Gearan lived in the Boston area of Massachusetts for 20 years, performing his own music with a remarkable band of Boston MVPs almost exclusively, occasionally stripping down his songs at several listening rooms to a full house.
To say Gearan’s fans are loyal and adoring is an understatement; his cast of ever expanding and long-time followers show their devotion by showing up to his weekly residencies week after week, covering his songs, coming to gigs to sit in with his incredible band to a welcoming crowd.  "Tim’s songs are near enough to the source of things that any player wants to get near them, it's like a watering hole, just a natural phenomenon; it's where the critters gather."  (songwriter/collaborator, Peter Mulvey, Righteous Babe Records)”
And gather they do. Music lovers, friends and Boston’s most prestigious musicians have packed Gearan’s weekly residency at Atwood’s Tavern, a musician-favorite venue in Cambridge, Friday after Friday for years and counting.

Gearan has 6 solo recordings and over 120 songs in his catalog.  Named Boston's "Residency King of The Hub" and said to be "just too talented to remain a local hero," by the Boston Globe, Gearan was awarded the Boston Music Award's Best Ongoing Residency in 2012, as well as the first Gibson Guitar sponsored Unsung Hero Award at the BMA's in 2004.  Gearan performed on Grammy nominated, American Blues Artist, Susan Tedeschi's 1998 debut album, "Just Won't Burn," and continues to be nominated for BMA's today.

Talk About Heaven

Written By: Tim Gearan

There’s so many wonders of the natural world
They ain’t got nothing on my little girl
And they talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven
But it ain’t got nothing on you

You fell in love, or so you thought
You stole a thousand kisses and you got caught
And they talk about Heaven
they talk about Heaven but it aint got nothin on you

There was a girl on the banks of the Arkansas
She was the prettiest thing
That I ever saw
Her hair was like fire and her eyes were blue
I told her I loved her but she already knew

And they talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven but it aint got nothing on you

Well the Man on the Moon sings “Ole Lang Syne”
While Old Haley’s Comet takes a little drink of wine

And they talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven but it aint got nothing on you

I’ve seen the Mona Lisa and the Taj Mijhal
I saw The Great Wall of China and Niagra Falls
I’ve seen the Sistine Chapel and I’ve seen Milton Burl
And I’ve seen a grain of sand turn into a pearl

And they talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven
They talk about Heaven but it aint got nothing on you

I saw the sun come up over Gay Paris
and I saw Brother Ray teach the blind to see
and I saw Radio die on MTV
They probably had it coming
Probably served them right

They talk about Heaven

Mostly Love

Where’s the winning light
You mentioned once in passing
Over a spinning cue ball,
We were drunk and trouble shooting
We stood there second guessing
Just what we were made of
I said mostly carbon
You said mostly love

Mostly love, mostly kindness
Mostly light, for the blindness
Most of what
We are made of
Is right between us
And it’s mostly love

The first thing I remember
Is the last thing that you said
If you were wrong, all along,
Won’t your face be red
Then in came the silence
As we wished to sleep
And we wondered in the darkness
If our souls were meant to keep

Mostly love, mostly kindness
Mostly light, for the blindness
Most of what
We are made of
Is right between us
And it’s mostly love

There are rooms where we keep evidence
Of the crimes that we’ve committed
There’s flying shoes
And random dues we paid along the way
But the proof is in the leather
Of some worn out boxing glove
The outside is stained and weathered
But the inside is mostly love
