Bio

Tim Gill is an award-winning, Los Angeles based trumpeter, vocalist, and composer.

His unique style of writing and playing have been featured with such artists as Wayne Bergeron, Branford Marsalis, Bobby Shew, Glibert Castellanos, and Clark Terry; on the Ellen Degeneres Show (NBC), and at Universal Studios, Hollywood and the Disneyland resort- to name a few!

In addition to fronting his own numerous and versatile groups, his studio work has been featured on such album releases as "Birthday Suit" and "End of the Hits" by San Diego's acclaimed pop band, Bill, and "Just Swingin' Around" by the Swingcats Big Band.
Tim's composing and arranging talents were recently honored by Downbeat Magazine, who graciously included his original big-band arrangment of "Little A" in the "Best Arrangement" category of their annual student awards.

A southern califonia native raised in a musical home, Tim latched on to jazz, classical, and classic rock music at an early age. By age 12 he had premeired his first full-blown big band arrangement, and by 16 his original compositions and playing had earned spots on local radio and morning television programs. His penchant for organizing and leading working groups led to the formation of his own 10-piece Tim Gill All-Stars, and a versatile quartet. Both groups have graced such venues as the Jazz Bakery, Catalina's Bar and Grill, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Tim resides in Los Angeles, CA, where he continues to explore new projects and performance opportunities. He is currently house arranger for live music at Universal Studios, Hollywood, and teaches as a clinician and ajudicator at local schools and festivals.

A new album featuring Tim's dynamic 10-piece big band will be released in February of 2009.
