Bio

Like many others, Tim Hein began creating music during his self-searching teenage years. His early days of musicianship were inspired largely by the local New York music scene, though he never made it much further than the garages and basements that he and his friends jammed in. It wasn't until Tim began attending the University of Delaware that he decided to pursue his passion for music. He spent much of his free time as a college undergrad writing, rehearsing, gigging, and promoting the four-piece alternative rock band he was a member of, while simultaneously building his own repertoire and experience as a musician.

After graduating with a degree in history, Tim briefly returned to New York and found rejuvenation in writing original folk-inspired pieces. In 2008, Tim recorded Montauk, a short catalog of songs that re-connected him with his roots as a singer/songwriter. Working in the day as a substitute teacher, he spent his nights and weekends writing new music and refining his sound at gigs around New York. About a year later, Tim relocated his base of operations just outside of Philadelphia, in the small city of Wilmington, Delaware.

With his own brand of “alternative folk-rock,” Tim has taken the stage at a number of renowned venues along the east coast. These include The Crazy Donkey and 169 Bar in New York, The North Star Bar and Milkboy Coffee in Philadelphia, and The World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington. Tim’s enthralling stage presence and honest approach to songwriting are both reflective of his own unique style, and reminiscent of those who have inspired him. His music hints at his greatest influences; Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Matthew Good, just to name a few.

Tim continues to pursue his passion, and occasionally performs with a band featuring violinist/fiddler Alice Marie Quirk, and percussionist Kyle Chismar. He recently released a new independent E.P., entitled Subtle Histories, which showcases his more dynamic side. Tim Hein has always been musically driven by his experiences in life and an open-mind. Although he has been on this journey for a number of years now, Tim is a young songwriter who is looking forward at a vast, exciting future ahead of him.
