Bio

Tim is a Central Kentucky native born and raised in Berea, a small college town about 1 hour South of Lexington. His music career started at the age of ten when his Father bought him a drum set. By the age of 16 Tim was already playing in college rock bands but it did not take him long to figure out he should be fronting the band instead of laying down the back beat. Tim went on to front regional acts like Wild River, Hasty Street and the original line up of Sugarcane while all the time working a construction job to support his young family. After some soul searching Tim took the next step and went to Nashville where he met Anthony Crawford. Anthony has played guitar on tour with Steve Winwood, Dwight Yoakam, Neil Young and is now a member of the country supergroup Blackhawk. Anthony produced Tim's first Nashville project, a demo of songs penned by Tim that includes fan favorites like, I Would and A Sight To Be Held. This demo is still floating around Nashville and gets Tim the occasional free supper from some record company executive.

Tim has opened for national acts such as Exile, Clay Davidson, Carolina Rain, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dierks Bentley, Jo Dee Messina , Blake Shelton , Miranda Lambert, and Billy Currington . Tim gathered some of the best musicians in Central Kentucky and put together the current version of Sugarcane. Now with a solid backup band Tim returned to Nashville where he met Robby Turner, Nashville Producer and Pedal Steel player to the stars. Robby was Waylon Jennings' steel player from the time of the Highway Men to his untimely death. Robby has also toured with The Gin Blossoms, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, Willie Nelson and recently finished a world wide tour with the Dixie Chicks. Robby and Tim are more than halfway finished with the new CD. With all the success Tim has had to date, he still believes none of it would have been possible without the support of his loving wife of ten years Christi and their two sons T.K. (12) and Dawson (8). For those of you who have seen the live show you already know about the charisma and energy Tim brings to the stage and for those of you who have not seen it, what are you waiting for? Seeing a Tim Hellard and Sugarcane show is your chance to see and meet an up and coming Nashville artist while he is still a hometown hero.
