"Korry hopes to take his music to the next level"

Musician: Tim Korry

Who's who: performs live with bassist John Owens III and drummer Cliff McGrew

Web site: www.timkorry.com

Latest project: "Between the Sun and the Moon," EP to be released by May

He says he sounds like: U2, Stereophonics, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley

We say he sounds like: Great lyrics, excellent stage presence and amazing riffs.

Describe your look: Always changing, but not as much as Lady GaGa.

Band name back story: The music is me and I am the music. Sounds kind of artsy-fartsy, but I want people to pay attention to it and know who's behind it.

Sell yourself in 20 words or less: Raw. Pure. Sonic.

Day job: Wouldn't you rather just think I'm consumed by the music all day and all night, like Mozart? It certainly presents a more interesting image. Plus I am.

What he's reading: "The Shack," and tidbits of different books and magazines. I guess it's my ADD nature. Can't . . . sit . . . still.

Favorite film: If you ask my wife, she will tell you this changes with the wind. Right now it's "Gods and Generals," again.

Unofficial band beverage: I'm partial to Smithwick's (ale).

First gig: Anytime Fitness grand opening in Kenosha. Thank you to Louie and Jimmy for believing in me and asking me to play.

Worst gig: Um, I don't want to go into details, but those who were there will remember. Usually as long as there are people there who dig the music and I feel good about the performance, it will never be the worst gig.

Weirdest fan encounter: You would be surprised where some people want autographs.

What's the greatest song ever written?: "Avengi Ja Nahin," by Rabbi Shergill.

Song you've written that you're most proud of: "Is This What It Is?"

Biggest band achievement: Realizing the vision. This year's upcoming EP and video production with Taylor Studios will be a highlight.

Why do you do this? The music comes from God. I just write it down and perform it.

Next gig: 10 p.m. May 15, Vnuk's Lounge, 5036 S. Packard Ave., Cudahy; followed by Rhinocerotic reunion show at 11 p.m. $5 cover for the night.

Bio

His Musical Past…

Tim Korry , originally from Miami, Florida, was born with music in his blood. Following in his Irish great grandfather’s fiddle- playing footsteps, Tim began mastering the guitar at the age of 17. In addition to continuous song writing, Tim also learned to play percussion instruments and bass guitar. His primary musical influences were Peter Gabriel, The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan and U2. By the early 1990’s, Tim happened upon a few awesome Milwaukee musicians and co-founded the band Rhinocerotic. Adding his guitar, vocal and songwriting stylings to this psychedelic groove- rock band, they recorded two successful CD’s and developed a strong and faithful following-- opening locally for Green Day and Badfinger, and doing a post show for the Black Crowes. Tim and Rhinocerotic also played the Rock Stage at Milwaukee’s “Big Gig” Summerfest many times and performed on the nationally syndicated Jenny Jones Show in 1999. Tim went on to lend his songwriting and performance talent to local cover and blues bands D- Flowers, Mercury Mayhem, and the Handsome Devils.

His Artistic Present…

In the 2000’s, Tim began to do solo work and in 2007, debuted his original album “Music from Earth”, available from iTunes and CD Baby. The album was a labor of love and gives a glimpse into the darkness of relationships and the light of self- discovery. Tim performed, recorded and mixed the entire album himself. He received recognition from the Kramp & Adler Morning Show as a promising local artist and his first single, “All My Colors” was played on WLUM 102.1. After more creative growth, Tim is up to his vocal cords in new songs and is about to release his new digital EP “Between the Sun and the Moon”, partially recorded, mixed and mastered at Taylor Studios in Wauwatosa, WI. “Between the Sun and the Moon” will be released in the near future (check back for details and where you can purchase the EP). He continues to entertain live with professional musicians who believe in his music, his vision and his message.

His Promising Future…

If you ask music performer and recording artist Tim Korry why he does this, he will simply say, “I am the music and the music is me. It comes from God. He tells me what to write and I write it.” If you ask others about Tim, they will say he is “original, from the heart, memorable, unique, a great song writer, a great person, and just what Milwaukee needs at Summerfest, State Fair and beyond”. Tim looks forward to beginning collaboration and production of a new music video very soon. His live entertainment vision is to present an eclectic multi- sensory experience to his audiences, always leaving them wanting more. His ultimate goal is to continue to write, record and perform his original music, and have as many people as possible hear it, listen to it; but above all… love it.
Travel with him on his sonic journey.
