Bio

Timmy Rivers has spent all of his 14 years in Ormond Beach, on the East Coast of Florida, and his two loves are music and the ocean. He’s been raised with the sound of the ocean in his ears and the day hasn’t really started until he’s checked the waves. His days are not complete without playing the guitar, singing and, if all is right with the world, catching some waves.

At age five he was attending a morning chapel service at his school when the music director, who is an accomplished guitarist and singer took the stage and began to play and sing. Timmy went home and told his mom that he was going to play guitar. He wanted to get a guitar THAT DAY. She thought that it was a phase, but decided to give it a chance. They drove together to a local pawn shop and purchased a $25 acoustic guitar. He started guitar lessons the following week and was hooked. He pushed himself to learn every trick that he could. In 6th grade a small band was started in his school and he loved playing and performing solo in the chapel services in the mornings. It was hard to get him off the stage. He enjoyed the response of the other students and didn’t seem bothered when objections were raised by some of the “church ladies” that some of his renditions were a little “too enthusiastic” for their tastes. He’s had the same guitar teacher, who inspired him to begin playing, since 3rd grade. He gives him credit for his love of the guitar.

A series of events in early 2007 lead him to meet Maurice Starr, the founder of New Kids on the Block. Mr. Starr was looking for talent to start another boy-band, and Timmy saw an article saying he was looking for five young guys to begin working on the new group. Timmy’s brother recorded him playing a few songs and sent a MP3 recording to Mr. Starr. He was impressed by what he heard and wanted to meet Timmy. He worked with Mr. Starr for several months learning everything that he could. He practiced alongside the newly formed boy band and honed his vocal and guitar skills. He also worked with choreographers Tyrone “The Bone” Proctor and Carlos Munez,”C-Los." Timmy’s first live performance was at Lawton Chiles Middle School in Oviedo, Florida that spring where he performed in front of 1,700 screaming teens.

He continues to work with vocal coach, James Osborne who has been very instrumental in helping him “find his voice” and develop his God given talents.

Currently Timmy is working with musician, producer, songwriter and label executive Billy Chapin who is producing his debut album. Billy is widely respected in the music industry and is diligently working on Timmy’s first full-length CD, expected to be released in the spring of 2008. Billy has collaborated on the album with rock ‘n roll legend Stan Lynch (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), who has also recorded drum tracks on four of Timmy’s songs. The first single from the CD is expected to be out soon.

This is a very exciting time for Timmy who is eager to pursue his dreams, and feels so fortunate to be able to work with such respected and talented people.
