Timo Arthur

 Boston, Massachusetts, USA
BandBluesSinger/Songwriter

I can perform, record and/or write both blues and pop. This gives me twice as much appeal and potential as many other artists who only do one genre, or who can only sing and not write. I could also help write for other artists. This makes me a double, if not triple threat. Win/win.

Biography

Since arriving in Boston in 1996, Timo Arthur has become a sought-after guitarist and vocalist on the New England scene. His talents and professionalism have won him many friends and fans alike as he continues performing with Boston's best blues and R&B acts, as well as fronting his own shows. In addition to being an impressive guitarist and singer, Timo has also proven himself as a very talented songwriter. He has written dozens of songs in styles ranging from blues to pop to calypso. He has become a well-known and highly respected artist among his musical peers and continues to perform regularly.

Hailing from a musical family, Timo (Timothy) was born June 10, 1974 in New Haven, CT. His mother was a semi-professional cellist, his father played guitar and piano around the house, and his paternal grandfather was a singer, drummer, and bandleader. At the tender age of eight, Timo told his father he wanted to be a musician (truth be told, the term actually used was 'rock star'). His parents got him a guitar the following Christmas. His father showed him the basics and by age ten, Timo began performing at school shows.

Timo spent his teens giving solo performances of his original music on guitar and piano at every opportunity. He also played with a handful of bands, taking on duties from playing guitar and electric bass to singing and songwriting. At age nineteen, he made his first studio recording consisting of four pop songs he had written. He performed all instruments himself.

A year later, he moved to his father's native Barbados where within four days of his arrival, he was chosen as lead guitarist for one of the island's top-billed soca bands. Though never having played in this style before, Timo adapted quickly, proving his immense talent, versatility, and natural musicianship. With this band, Timo played venues ranging from the island's most popular clubs to packed stadiums. After several months, he left Barbados to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

After his arrival in Boston in 1996, Timo became a regular on the New England blues scene. In addition to fronting his own band from time to time, Timo often worked as a sideman, quickly gaining notoriety as an impressive guitarist and vocalist. He was often called to share the stage and recording studios with a number of local, regional, and national acts, and he also performed in genres outside of the blues box. Many prominent Boston area blues, soul, R&B, and roots/rock artists have called Timo to the stage to sit in with them at their shows.

For the future, Timo plans to focus his efforts on songwriting and perform as a singer/songwriter as well as a backing guitarist/vocalist. He continues to impress audiences with his soulful yet fierce guitar playing, his valiant songwriting skills, humble confidence, and his witty and warm stage persona. His steadfast ambition and undeniable talent give Timo an undying love of his craft, as well as an insatiable desire to succeed at it.

Gift of You

"Gift of You"
Lyrics and Music by Timothy Arthur
Copyright 2008

When I first met you, I was such a fool. Blind in so many ways, hurtful and cruel.
I spent my time living life on the run and shying away from the light of the sun.

I know I've hurt you and you've hurt me, too. But everyday, I thank God for the Gift of You.

It took me so long to get to where I am. But for all the heartache, I'm a better man.
I've learned the meaning of true love. And now I know there's a God up above.

I took for granted the things I'd been through. But I'll never waste what I've been given in the Gift of You.

(Bridge)
You're my angel in every way and I'll always love you 'till my dying day. No man could know what I've been through unless he has an angel like you.

(SOLO)

The strength of my love could never be more true. And I will be forever grateful for the Gift of You.

Only World We've Got

Written By: Timothy Arthur

I have a question for you. What's the world coming to? Baby, I just can not comprehend why people just can't be friends.
We live in a world with so much war. I just can't take it no more.
Walk down the street and bullets fly. People scream and children cry. There's so much hatred in the world today. It don't make sense so let's find another way.
This world's turning into hell and some people just say 'Oh, well'. Well,
Baby, you and I can't let the world die. Whether we like it or not, it's the Only World We've Got.

Two men with guns walk into a store. They take aim and shoot two more. Those guys live but what a shame that the world is going up in flames.
There's more to it than saying no. People we must let our feelings show. So,
Baby, you and I can't let the world die. Whether we like it or not, it's the Only World We've Got.
Now I know there's a way to help the world today. And I just can't understand why everyone won't lend a helping hand. And
People starve in the world today. There are people with no place to stay. Baby, before you go to sleep tonight, remember you can help to make things right.
All you got to do is sing along. By doing that, you ain't doing no wrong. Be strong.
Baby, you and I can't let the world die. Whether we like it or not, it's the Only World We've Got.
Baby, you and I can't let the world die. Whether we like it or not, it's the Only World, it's the Only World, it's the Only World We've Got.

Reason to Live

Written By: Timothy Arthur

Before we met, I was lonely. I love you, yes. You're my one and only. Words can not say the way I feel for you. I wanna be with you.
Girl, you know, your beauty cuts like knife. It can be said that you're the love of my life.
Words can not say the way I feel for you. I wanna be with you.
What can I say to show my love for you. What can I do to prove my love is true. You have so much love to give. You are my Reason to Live.

The day will come when I'll kiss you. You are the one. And I miss you.
Words can not say the way I feel for you. I wanna be with you.
What can I say to show my love for you. What can I do to prove my love is true. You have so much love to give. You are my Reason to Live.

You're my only love. The one I'm thinking of. Together we will be 'cause you're locked in my heart and I've thrown away the key.

Girl, you know, I believe in you. I love you so. I'll never leave you.
Words can not say the way I feel for you. I wanna be with you.
What can I say to show my love for you. What can I do to prove my love is true. You have so much love to give. You are my Reason to Live.
Whoa. Whoa. You are my Reason to Live.

Six Strings Away

Written By: Timothy Arthur

If you ever want me anytime night or day (2x)
You know where to find me, baby. I'm only Six Strings Away.

Now, baby, you always tellin' me, I treat my guitar better than I treat you.
Yeah, you always told me, baby, I treat her better than I treat you.
Well, maybe that's because, baby, I know she'll always be true.
Ain't that right, baby

Yeah, it feels so good. It oughtta be a sin and a shame. (2x)
But when she sings softly to me, honey. Lord, it feels like she screaming out my name.

The Storm

Written By: Timo Arthur

Summer rain is falling down. Listen close. You'll hear the sound of thunder in a distant sky sounding like a battle cry. It's a mirror of my soul trying hard to let you go. Though through all the wind and rain, it's all in vain.

Everyday when I awake, I must fight to overtake feelings of uncertainty dwelling deep inside of me. Longing for the sunlight, I can never get it right. Until then, I will soldier on 'til I find the dawn.

As long as it takes my soul to mend, I know The Storm will never end. I may cry a million tears 'fore it all disappears and the sun brings a brand new day.

I have traveled on this road merely in survival mode. Doing only what's required, living life so uninspired. It's no wonder you have flown needing to be on your own. While I was living for today, you slipped away.

As long as it takes my soul to mend, I know The Storm will never end. I could walk a million miles. I could fake a billion smiles. Still, the clouds would never go away. Yeah!

As long as it takes my soul to mend, I know The Storm will never end. Trying to keep up the fight, I look for a ray of light. So, I'll kneel down tonight and pray.

I look to the dark sky. God is watching as I cry. And when He calls me to ascend, that is when The Storm will end.

I'll Keep Waitin'

Written By: Timo Arthur

I've been waitin' on you, babe, for so many years. I've been waitin' for so long, it drives me to tears. But you'll never once hear me complain, because I know it's not in vain, and I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do.

Well, since I met you, baby, I've always known that you and I weren't meant to be alone. But you've got such a hold on me that I can't ever let you be, and I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do. Oh Yeah!

Well, the good times, baby, always outweighed the bad. And I know you're the best I ever had. So I don't mind no stormy weather as long as we can be together, and I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do. Hey!

Well, I truly love you, baby, with all my heart. And I can't stand for us to be apart. So if I have to stand in line, I don't mind cause you're so fine, and I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do. Yeah, I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do. I said I'll Keep Waitin' if that's what I gotta do.

Yeah! You know it, baby!

Julia

Written By: Timo Arthur

There's someone I'd like you to meet, and you're the only one I trust. And as she brought her up to me, I felt my heart start to combust.

We talked for a while, and then a little more. Little did I know what was in store.

Julia. Julia.

We met up for coffee and we walked through the park. We spend all day together until it got dark.

Just a simple girl with a sweet smile. We walked by the river and kissed a little while.

Julia. Julia.

We kissed and we danced. We held each other's hands. We'd stay up 'til the morning light. And if there's a chance to see her again, you know I'll be there to take the flight.

'Cause one week later, she had to leave. She had to go back home but I did not grieve.

'Cause she made my heart happy, happy and strong. More than I could ever say in a song.

Julia. Julia. Julia. Julia

Note to Self

Written By: Timo Arthur

Note to Self. Don't fall in love again. Note to self. You know you'll never win. It's the same old story each and every time. She'll get away with murder like it's not even a crime. Note to self. Don't fall in love again.

Well, I once loved a woman. She said she loved me, too. She promised me that she'd never ever make me blue. 'Til I came home one particular day. She said that she was leaving 'cause I made her gay.

Note to Self. Don't fall in love again. Note to Self. She'll play you like a violin. Yeah, she'll whisper sweet nothings in your ear. And then before ya know it, you're money disappears. Note to Self. Don't fall in love again. Oh, no!

Well, not long ago, I had a girlfriend. She gave me sweet love that I prayed would never end. We fed each other wine and chocolate ice cream. But then it all ended when I woke up from my dream.

Note to Self. Don't fall in love again. Note to Self. Don't go jumping in. You'll be in love with a woman that don't belong to you. You'll cry in your coffee 'cause it's all that you can do. Note to Self. Don't fall in love again. Yeah, Note to Self. You know you'll never win.
