Timo Räisänen

Is the anatomy of Timo Räisänen like everyone else’s? Yes and no. There is something inside that body that makes it impossible for Sweden’s biggest live wire to stand still. After four solo albums and recordings with Håkan Hellström and Her Majesty he could easily relax in that comfortable chair of pop stardom. Considering his history he could probably create monster-hits with his left hand while the rest of his body is having a never-ending vacation.
Sounds like a pretty good life, right?

Well, not for Timo.

Instead he needs to go where the ice is thin. Just to see what happens, just because there is something appealing about provoking oneself. Because it is so much more fun if you do not know what is going to happen.

Lately we have seen him on some of Sweden’s most popular television shows doing things he has never done before. He even acted as a host on national television during P3 Guld, Sweden’s biggest broadcasted music award. With the same undisguised enthusiasm he has done one unexpected project after the other. Why? Because every organism of his body needs another challenge, because it itches when he stays to long on the same spot.

But now he is back in a place where he feels at home. Timo Räisänen and his band have recorded a new album, ”The Anatomy Of Timo Räisänen”, and are ready to hit the road. Once again Timo will turn into a child before Christmas when the shows are coming up and as usual he will not give up until he finds that unique magic that gave him an award for Best Liveact at P3 Guld 2007.

But musically something has happened. “The Anatomy of Timo Räisänen” is more self-reflecting and, believe it or not, a bit laidback. It was supposed to be his heaviest album but turned out to be his softest and most personal recording since the debut. To be honest, all of us have seen Timo naked (both metaphoric and literally speaking), but this time he opens up even more, lets us in under the skin. The energy is as present as always, but it is different this time. Still explosive, but not as unpredictable. Timo is taking the song-writing more serious and has become more self-critical. Songs were reconstructed and re-written – which of course added a lot of anxiety to the process. But it was necessary. Why? Because something good can always become better and because routine is the enemy. But mainly because every inch of his body needs to go where the ice is thin.
