Big Duets is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/performer Timothy Abbott[ lead vocalist/lyricist for The Figurados, Argument Clinic,Up Periscope], and producer Mark Epstein[ bass player w/ Johnny Winter,1990-2000].Submitted 8 songs for consideration in 5 Grammy categories for 2015 awards.
Abbott corralled over a dozen talented Austin singers to take part in the Duets,then stacked the deck and backed them with such A-list musicians as Cindy Cashdollar,Red Young,Jeff Plankenhorn,Chris Gage,Courtney Santana,Joe Morales,Matt Hubbard,Matt Smith,Brannan Lane,Eldridge Goins,Robb Kidd,Kris Brown,all directed by ringleader Epstein.This is one of the NEW buzz bands in Austin,and are pulling a strong audience at the One-2-One Bar,where they have a monthly residency.
Abbott's past musical endeavors were The Figurados,Argument Clinic,and Up Periscope,and after his recent solo effort"Our Time Has Come",written,produced with Matt Smith in 2012, he came up with his niche' in the Duets approach.Volume One showcases his writing,and the vocal chops of a dozen of Austin's most exciting singers. Volume Two is already underway and being written with a number of talented Austin vocalists and musicians. Volume One is an epic work comprising 16 total tracks.
