Timothy
Burgess is a composer and musical hedonist. That is, his aim in creating each
new piece is to construct a pleasurable and stimulating sound environment for
his audience to experience. Timothy has enjoyed writing and recording pop and
post-rock music since he was 14, and often approaches his compositional work
with a similar frame of mind, incorporating “sophisticated interweaving
phrases” which mimic multitrack layering, and looped elements which form the
basis for his “striking harmonic language” (cvnc.org). He has had works
premiered by the Raleigh Flute Choir, 15.19Ensemble in Italy, the Greensboro
Laptop Orchestra (GLork) and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s
resident new music ensemble Present~Continuous.
