BandR&BAcoustic

I am rooted in classic R&B music. I believe in telling a good story and I do my best to deliver it with the same passion as my musical ancestors.

Biography

I was born and raised in the city of Chicago (the windy city) and I began writing to relieve stress and to tell my story as only I can tell it. The Music Cafe in it truest form is music poetry. Each song is written with the intent to provoke thought and discussion. Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Norman Whitfield in my opinion are the best of the best when it comes to writing songs, their music stand the test of time. Think about it, pick anyone of the writers I've mentioned and know that hasn't a day gone buy for the past 30 or more years where their music has not been played. My ultimate goal as a songwriter is to do the same. What set me apart is what sets us all apart from one another and that's our life experiences, our environment and heritage. That's what makes me different and my music reflects that.

Lyrics

Hard To Find

Written By: Tim Sykes

Repeat Hard To Find

Written By Timothy Sykes

Verse 1

It’s Monday and you say
That you got to find a better way

From Tuesday thru Friday
It’s the same each and everyday

When life seems mundane
You think a little crazy

That’s when you say
From all of it you got to get away

Hook

Tell you it’s hard to try and find
Somebody with same like heart and mind
But I will never ever compromise
Don’t want to add to my own demise

Verse 2

The one constant thing
Has been you love for me

What you say and do
Let’s me know what we have is true

I won’t do a thing
Purposely that’s insane

To jeopardize what we have
Why do that to my better half

Hook repeat 2x

Tell you it’s hard to try and find
Somebody with same like heart and mind
But I will never ever compromise
Don’t want to add to my own demise

After Dialogue

I do understand
I was taught to be a better man
Always to believe in who I am
An independent strong and young black man

Nothing will come easy for me in life
To have a lasting love be wrong when you’re right
Careful cause the tongue can cut like a knife
Admit when you are wrong and make it right

Verse I

Remembering back in the day
When everything seemed O.K.
Watching you was such a thrill
You’d make my heart stand still

But despite all I say you don’t care
Just like a kiss to the wind in the air
Despite all I did you still left

Your body was here but your heart
Your body was here but your heart
Was somewhere else

Verse II

Now it’s not so hard to see
It was nothing I did
You fell out of love with me
Why did you give up on me?
I can’t let you go so easily

But despite all I say you don’t care
Just like a kiss to the wind in the air
Despite all I did you still left

Your body was here but your heart
Your body was here but your heart
Was somewhere else

Bridge

In a dream I held you close in my arms again

Everything was just as then
Back in my arms yes once again

When it seemed so real to me that’s when I awaked
And called out your name for goodness sake
Hoping you’d come back to me
Baby please
But despite all I say you don’t care
Just like a kiss to the wind in the air
Despite all I did you still left

Your body was here but your heart
Your body was here but your heart
Your body was here but your heart
Was somewhere else

Verse I

Hey sweet lady won’t you come on in
Tonight is the night we’ll be more than friends

Dinner will be served in an hour
To sweet soothing music

Sit back relax a while
I’ll do everything for you

Chorus:

Tonight’s the night
The mood is right
I want to take this to the next level

(Repeat 2 x)

Verse II

Hope you’ve enjoyed the dinner baby
That was made just for you

Everything from now on is gonna be special
And all about you

Your love is what I need
Know that I’m here for you

My life is now to please you

(Repeat Chorus 2 x)

Bridge:

Be more than a friend to me
I’ll give you all of the love you need
Together I know that we
Can unlock loves mystery

There’s nothing to figure out
We know what we’re all about

Tonight’s the night
The mood is right
Let’s take this to the next level

Tonight’s the night
The mood is right

Tonight’s the night
The mood is right

Adlib till fade

Discography

Hard To Find, Why, and Your Heart Was Somewhere Else has gotten the most buzz from Female listeners. I have been pleasingly surprised to know that my music was requested for a London radio show entitled 'Soul Unsigned.'Through that radio program I received some good exposure and I owe thanks to Tony Brignull for that. A person who I've never met because he lives in London. Thanks again Tony.
