) Imagine a mixture of Country, Folk Rock, and Americana song writing with vocals ala the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Poco & CSN with "scorching" harmonica. Shaped by his "Seventies Roots", TJ always says "You're gonna smell like what it is you've been steppin' in so, be careful where you walk!"

Biography

Nashville Singer/Songwriter and 22 year Hohner Harmonica Artist, TJ Klay was an original member of the country band “Western Flyer”. His harmonica, mandolin, guitar and harmony vocals graced the group’s two CDs and helped garn them four hit singles and three CMT videos. They performed for the Kansas City Royals, the Martin Luther King Foundation and President Clinton.

TJ performs solo and with a trio at venues and shooting events across the country and currently is a member of the Pro-Staff for HI VIZ sight systems, a BrowninG Shotgun ambassador and the 2006 Texas State Sporting Clays Open A Class Champion. With his publishing company, Sporting Klay’s Music, he has released four solo CDs, written and produced “The Grand American” CD for the ATA’s Grand American Trapshooting Championship, the “San Antonio in September” CD for the NSCA’s Sporting Clays Nationals and the “Shoot for the Moon” CD for USA Shooting. The song was featured in their video promotion for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

T.J.Klay's latest album, "Heart of Klay", is resplendent with well crafted lyrics and melodies. His songs are snapshots of life as we all live it. "Back in America is a baby boomer's nostalgic look at growing up in innocence and lamenting the changes in our culture and in our country. Klay's smoking hot harmonica licks are sprinkled throughout the whole CD, and his moving duet with Jonelle Mosser on "Jump into the Arms of Jesus" explores the inborn longing we all feel to be free from earthly struggles. This album is filled with georgeous melodies interwoven with thoughtful insights about spirituality and the promise of paradise that we as Christians, live for.

Yes...TJ's "Heart of Klay" is definetly a triumph and promises to be his best solo effort yet! It features country rock legend Richie Furay, Firefall’s Steven Weinmeister, slide guitarist Jack Pearson, Reese Wynans on piano, Delbert McClinton’s drummer Lynn Williams, Grammy award winning producer Michael Omartian on organ, legendary lap slider Al Perkins, and a host of others! Somewhere Between

Written By: Glenn Ashworth & TJ Klay Sporting Klay's Music (SESAC) Trapshootin' Music (ASCAP

Two steps forward and three steps back
This rusty old train keeps running down that same old track
Up ahead there's a light and God what a fight
And you don't know how or if you'll ever get there

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE LOST AND THE FOUND
YOU'VE GOT YOUR SIGHTS SET ON HEAVENLY GROUND
BUT SOMETHING WAY DOWN DEEP INSIDE JUST KEEPS DRAGING YOU ON DOWN
AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO BREAK FREE FROM LIVING YOUR LIFE IN BETWEEN
THE LOST AND THE FOUND

Well, I've spent my time on those same old shiney tracks
Rode those damned old rails clear to hell and back
God knows I've tried with all my muscle and might
But blood & sweat & tears just weren't enough
Cause I was

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE LOST AND THE FOUND
I HAD MY SIGHTS SET ON HEAVENLY GROUND
BUT SOMETHING WAY DOWN DEEP INSIDE JUST KEPT DRAGING ME ON DOWN
I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO BREAK FREE
FROM LIVING MY LIFE IN BETWEEN
THE LOST AND THE FOUND

Then one day I just gave up and I fell down on my knees
And that's when just what I'd been looking for found me

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE LOST AND THE FOUND
NOW I'VE STAKED MY CLAIM IN THAT HEAVENLY GROUND
SOMETHING WAY DOWN DEEP INSIDE YOU KNOW IT JUST GOT TURNED AROUND
THANK GOD JESUS SET ME FREE
FROM LIVING MY LIFE IN BETWEEN
THE LOST AND THE FOUND

40 Somethin' Years

Written By: Glenn Ashworth & TJ Klay Sporting Klay's Music (SESAC) Trapshootin' Music (ASCAP)

Seems like yesterday, it was back in '64
I watched John, Paul, George & Ringo from that round run on our floor
And that blues harp there in "love me do" hit me right between the ears
And I've been down this long and winding road for 40 somthin' years

They say that dreams get started when a place inside your heart
Gets touched by something magical
and grows to be a part
Of what you set your sights on and everything you do
Then one day you open up your eyes and find it coming true.

Guess I've been runnin' down this road so long it just took awhile to see
That the dreams that I've been living out, are just the plans God had for me

AND IT'S ALL BEEN STITCHED TOGETHER JUST LIKE A GIANT PATCHWORK QUILT
AND PIECE BY PIECE AND STEP BY STEP THE PICTURE STANDS COMPLETE
AND I KNOW THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO THIS THAN THE CHOICES THAT I'VE MADE
AND THAT " THE GREAT SOMEONE" HE'S BEEN GUIDING ME EVERY STEP ALONG THE WAY

Well this world is full of dreamers you know I'm not the only one
And I pray someday that you will find out all you can become
just a little faith and hope is all you really need
And somewhere this long and winding road you'll be living out your dreams

And as you make your way down this life's road I hope you find it true
That the dreams that you've been living out are just the plans God had for you

And that the dreams that you've been living out are just the plans God has for you

Shoot Dance & Ride

Written By: Glenn Ashworth & TJ Klay

With a brand new Daisy, an old shootin' bag,
a tree stump called Trigger & a red cowboy hat
Ridin' with Patty, she's the cowgirl next door,
we'd rob the ol' kitchen and run for the door
Ambushed by "Grandad" on the living room trail,
we'd watch "Gene & Roy" as we sat there in jail
With a gleam in his eye I heard "Grandaddy" say
"Take the lessons to heart that you're learning today"
He'd say

"Shoot, dance & ride.
Take on this old world one step at a time
Let your shot ring true as you go thru this thing they call life
Dance with the ones that you love, cause good friends are a gift from above
There's a sunset for you to ride off into..
so shoot, dance & ride"

Well it's 30 years later, all the trails that I ride
have gone from hard wood
to black top...eight lanes wide, I stumble along just like every man does,
I fight hard to balance this work, life and love
And the things that i learned from my "Grandad" back then
have helped me hold onto, time and again,
just what makes life worth living and doing it right,
when to love and forgive
and to stand there and fight and to

"Shoot, dance & ride.
Keep your head down & your powder dry
Let your shot ring true as you go thru this thing they call life
Dance with the one that you love, cause romance is a gift from above
There's a sunset for you to ride off into..
so shoot, dance & ride."

When my eyes have grown
to old to see
and this ol' trigger finger ain't half of what it used to be..
and I can't ride anymore
and I can't dance,
I'll thank God He gave me the chance to

"Shoot, dance & ride.
Take on this old world one step at a time.
Let my shot ring true as I go through this thing they call life.
You gotta dance with the ones that you love,
cause the wonders of life are a gift from above
There's a sunset that's true,
I'm gonna ride off into..
gonna..
shoot, dance & ride"

Greatest Story Never Told

Written By: Glenn Ashworth & TJ Klay

With a pen in hand I wrote them out a $50 check,
to help those starving children on some far off continent.
I felt I'd done my duty and my conscience was now clear
cause I'd helped to send the Gospel out to some poor natives ears.

We don't want it to be the greatest story never told.
How Jesus came, and bled and died, and rose to save our souls. We all gotta do our part,
to send His love and change a heart.
We don't want it to be...the greatest story never told.

Well I got to work on Monday morning, and much to my surprise,
ol' Lenard, who'd worked next to me for 15 years had died.
I thought "Dear God, I hope somebody told him about you",
and I cried when I remembered all the chances that I blew.

We don't want it to be the greatest story never told.
How Jesus came, and bled and died, and rose to save our souls. We all gotta do our part,
to send His love and change a heart.
We don't want it to be...the greatest story never told.

We love to tell the story and spread it near and far,
but just remember that the world includes, your very own back yard.

We don't want it to be the greatest story never told.
How Jesus came, and bled and died, and rose to save our souls. We all gotta do our part,
to send His love and change a heart.
We don't want it to be...the greatest story never told.
