Bio
TJ Kong & the Atomic Bomb are a blues/rock band out of Philadelphia, PA. They are, in a word; great. With wise and weary lyrics that meander around like a drunken old old man, kickin' drum beats and an attacking harmonica, they reminisce of sounds from Bob Dylan, the White Stripes, Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, the Pixies and Condoleeza Rice fronting a small orchestra.
Having formed on Easter Sunday, the Year of the Rat, 2008, they are still a young lady of the world. And yet people seem to flock to them. They are revered in their homeland, “Awesome lo-fi blues folk that just speaks to my soul… they are gonna be all over XPN.” – fiftyonefiftyone.com, and abroad (2008 invitees of the Montreal Pop Festival).
They are currently finishing up their first disc, the five song “Small Apartment EP” out in early October, gearing up for the Montreal Pop and CMJ music festivals, and in the interim, playing local clubs and music halls up and down the east coast (of America).
