TJ The Soulful Rapper

TJ The Soulful Rapper is not your average MC. At the young age of 21 his focus isn't on the cars, the clothes, or the money. His main goal is to make "good music" that will tap into your emotions and take your mind to different places.

Born Terrell Johnson, he is originally from The Bronx, NY. He was inspired musically by such artist as Gang Starr, Kid and Play, and G-Dep among others, and began rapping at the age of 13. Growing up was not easy for him. His mother developed a drinking problem and this began to become a big strain on his relationship with his mother.

Escaping to start a new life he moved to Orlando, Fl in 2002 with a stronger, more focused determination. He now felt ready and equipped to handle any situation that might come his way. He attended Cypress Creek High School where he was able to walk across the stage but fell a few credits shy of getting his H.S. diploma. But that did not stop him and he is now on his way to getting his G.E.D.

In 2009 he collaborated with J.Red of King of Kings Records, Inc. "When I first met TJ I knew he had a gift" said J.Red, President of King of Kings Records. "He doesn't just spit bars, he can make songs". That collaboration would lead to things that neither one of them would have ever expected.

The two collaborated and made a mixtape called "Got Soul" which was a collection of material that really sent a message as to who TJ The Soulful Rapper was and what he represented. The release of the single "Kiss Me" produced by J.Red, was a big success over the internet. After posting the song on reverbnation.com he reached the top 10 on their hip hop local charts for Orlando, Fl within a week, hitting the top 5 within two weeks. He also reached number 10 nationally and #12 globally. The ultimate achievement was reaching the #1 spot in less than a month with over 10,000 plays, and staying there for over six months straight.

His music is now loved by people all over the world. From New York to California to places like Vietnam, Egypt, and Indonesia to name a few. His music can also be heard on Jango.com online radio station. His fans appreciate him for his creativity as an artist and for making music that stands for something.
