South Carolina indie outfit The Lion in Winter opens, drawing obvious inspiration from early Radiohead on offerings that balance grand ambition with delicate delivery. - Spencer Griffith
The Lion in Winter — The Lion in Winter’s variegated indie rock is handsome, graceful and impressive, sweeping and grandiose in scope but rooted in spiraling pop hooks. The band’s songs build in refined and stylish crescendos, borrowing from American post-rock, but Hunter Duncan’s songwriting voice favors pre-millennial but post-OK Computer Britpop; the combination is both pretty and potent, resulting in incandescent choruses that fade to slow-burn singalongs.-P. Bio
To say The Lion in Winter is a new band would be an understatement to singer/songwriter Hunter Duncan and his previous projects (American Religion, Kill Anties). To forward himself from his local past (Kill Anties) he started The Lion in Winter to progress his music into a more mature state. The band has recorded their first EP and are looking to continue work with Regenerate Music Company based out of Cleveland, TN. Now, the road.
