Hollywood, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 9, 2009 -- The new Macarena is Cash Money Records artist T. Lopez. She's the newest face of Cash Money Records, a house built on hip hop artists like Lil' Wayne, Birdman and now crossing over with new comers like Kevin Rudolph who debuted in 2008 with his hit single "Let it Rock."

T. Lopez

T. Lopez, the first ever Latina artist at Cash Money Records, is the featured vocalist in the new remix of the Macarena, the biggest Latin selling single ever on the pop charts, now celebrating its Quinceañera.

The song's Spanish version has already debuted on stations like San Francisco's KVVZ La Kalle 105.7 FM and is being added to major radio stations nationwide and Puerto Rico in the following weeks.
Darius Jordi Lassus, president and CEO of IMC Records, Inc was in Los Angeles when he came across T Lopez, who was recording at Candor Entertainment Studios.
Born in Ontario to Mexican American parents, Lopez proudly embodies the new Macarena - a girl who knows what she wants - by focusing on her long and short term goals daily.
Domingo Zapata Chairman of IMC Records, Inc. and co-writer of the new Macarena Spanish version adds that finding the young singer was a rewarding experience. "We are very pleased, T Lopez is a great example to the many Latinas who share a fifteenth birthday with our song."
More than 400,000 Latinas were born the year that Los Del Rio made music history with their mega-hit "Macarena", and fifteen years later many of them will celebrate with a Quinceañera party, eat cake and probably dance to the Macarena, hence the title of the new album "Quinceanera Macarena" for which the single was recorded. The album is available in Wal-Mart stores nationwide and iTunes worldwide.
This Macarena remix featuring T Lopez, El Chino DreadLion (Yerba Buena) and Yeyo (The DEY) celebrates the going strong on 15 years of- the biggest Latin selling single ever on the pop charts, overall second only to Elton John's candle in the wind.
This marks another exciting development for Lopez who has already been in the studio with the likes of T-Pain, Birdman and Lil' Wayne and is currently putting the finishing touches on her anticipated debut album where she will sing in Spanish as well.
This week, T. Lopez performs with Los del Rio and the rest of the Macarena gang on Don Francisco Presenta, Univision's most famed and successful primetime and late night personality when they embark on a week long of promotion that will take them to New York, Miami and Puerto Rico.

"The ‘Macarena’ makes a comeback. Not made better by gratuitous hot Latina fronting it"

The ‘Macarena’ makes a comeback. Not made better by gratuitous hot Latina fronting it

Run and hide. The Macarena, that inimitably silly song and dance from the mid 90s, gets a facelift from Cash Money Records newcomer, Latina recording artist, T. Lopez. The song’s a little bouncier, but the moves are the same as ever; second only to the Chicken Dance for utter frivolity.Believe it or not, it’s been fifteen years since the last Macarena. Now all the kids dealing with the Quinceañera, (traditional fifteen birthday celebration), need an updated way to embarrass their future selves. Still, it’s nice to see that fiteen years haven’t coarsened the nature of the family-friendly dance. Domingo Zapata, co-writer of the Spanish-language remix and chairman of IMC Records, says T. Lopez is a “great example to the many Latinas who share a fifteenth birthday with our song. Better than Miley Cyrus, at least — look for the tune, cake, and impossibly ridiculous dance at your nearest fifteen year-old’s party.

Bio

T Lopez

She's the newest face of Cash Money Records, a house built on hip hop hits like Lil' Wayne's "Fireman" and B.G.'s dictionary- altering "Bling-Bling". However, T Lopez is aiming to carve her own mark in that legacy.Born to Mexican-America n parents in Ontario, California, better known as the Inland Empire, T grew up singing in her church choir during sunday school. In high school, T Lopez didn't participate in early college enrollment with her peers. Instead, Lopez, who always knew she wanted to sing, attended Chaffey High School while working twojobs at the Ontario Mills Mall. That is until a car belonging to talent scout, Nick Martinez, broke down near her father's garage and her father told Martinez about T's beautiful voice."I called Nick and he asked me to sing to him over the phone," says T."I thought it was weird, but I sang him 'Amazing Grace' from our
bathroom, the acoustics were better in there. After I finished he said, 'When I hear about something, I'll call you.'"Not thinking much of it, T returned to work at Ontario Mills until Martinez did indeed call her. A new Latina group, Soluna, had just lost a member and was looking for a replacement. Lopez quickly auditioned, and was whisked away on tour.

"It was a crazy roller coaster ride, everything happened so fast. We toured with Marc Anthony and Enrique Iglesias. I had a great time," Lopez says. Soluna released their 2002 debut, For All Time, under the Dreamworks Records label. Paramount and UPN quickly took interest in the group and developed a tv pilot based on their lives, co-starring Mario Lopez & Tony Plana. After filming the pilot, Soluna reconvened for a second album but realized they had grown apart musically. "We wanted it to work so bad that we were forcing it and we finally just gave up and wished each other well in our individual journies."

Producer, Steve Morales, brought T down to Miami to begin recording her own music. Lopez also joined the cast of SiTv, where she currently co-hosts a latin american music show, The Drop. Lopez continued acting, hosting, and recording music. After putting a few movies, multiple TV appearances, and an album's worth of songs under her belt, Lopez met brothers and co-CEO's of Cash Money Records, Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Baby" Williams, and they invited her to visit their New Orleans home base. "I was very impressed by their loyalty to each other, but I asked the guys if they really wanted to work with me and my music because it was so different. Slim is great, he takes great care of me and he is really involved in my project. Heads of companies aren't always like that." T Lopez officially joined the Cash Money family and hasn't looked back since. T is currently recording her as-yet-untitled solo album in Miami, with features from Daddy Yankee, Lil' Wayne, Flo-Rida, Glasses Malone, and Birdman. Producers Timbaland, J.R. Rotem, Rodney Jerkins are also along to build what's best described as urban pop.

"Its a mix of a bunch of things, but it's pop," says Lopez, who grew up
on pioneers like Etta James. "I like a hard base line with a melody over it like Mary J. Blige. My music is dramatic and the lyrics I write are either 'I hate you' or 'I'm so in love with you'. There's no in between!"

With an American Latino award under her belt in 2010, Lopez plans to release both english and spanish language albums. Her first spanish single “Mentirosa”, a collaboration with latin music’s heavy hitter, A.B. Quintanilla is due to release August, 2010. "Recording in spanish is a very important thing for me to do because its such a big part of who I am," says T. Learning how to command a room from Baby, a relentless work ethic from Lil' Wayne, and a business savvy from Slim, T lopez is on her way toward leaving her own stamp on the pop music world via one of hip hop's most storied labels, Cash Money.
