Bio

T. Martin was born in southeast Missouri, close enough to hear the music that was echoing up the river valleys from Memphis ...Tennessee in the 1950’s and 60’s. His family moved on to Kansas City to find work, and it was there while growing up that his rhythm and blues roots were forged. His father had bought him his first guitar and amp from the clearance section of the city’s old Montgomery Wards department store around the age of 10 and a life long love affair with music was purchased. Early influences were the amazing urban entertainers; James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Little Milton and many more, and the bluesrockers; The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Canned Heat, etc. He soon found school pals with the same interest and many garage bands and jam sessions were formed where hours upon hours were spent just jamming the blues!
You are listening to a journeyman of the electric blues genre who is still belting out the tunes today. He is from the brotherhood of blues men who first experimented with the smells of burning overheated amplifier tubes, buzzing from bad electrical cords and grounds, and the growls of cheap electric guitars with one pickup, two pickups, heck maybe even three or four pickups! Microphones that were rusty and smelled like beer and cigarettes, speakers that were half blown and flopping in the wind. These blues players were pioneers. Enjoy them while you can and tell the stories of your encounters with the blues from that era. It was a tumultuous and exciting time documented in history, and deserves to be preserved. Keep the blues alive!
