Bio

Todd Keller is a Roots Rock & Soul, Singer/Songwriter based out of St. Louis, Missouri. Todd's music springs from the era of the late '60's and early '70's when rock and soul music shared the same audience. Like his influences Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, Motown, Joss Stone and Lenny Kravitz, Todd prefers old school production with live drums, groovy bass, tasty guitars and Hammond B-3 for dessert.

Todd self-produces his recordings in his home studio, Studio Odd and plays most or all of the instruments himself with occasional help from studio musicians. “I’ve always been fascinated with artists like Prince and Lenny Kravitz who are totally self-sufficient in the studio.” In the future, when the budget accommodates, Todd would love to record to analog tape with vintage and analog gear to emulate the sound of the older records and the modern recordings of The White Stripes, Jamie Cullum and early Lenny Kravitz.

Todd tries to write in the full range of human emotions. Any topic is game from lust to anger, despair to hope, heartbreak to love, political to apathetic, or fun to serious. “I’ve always enjoyed The Beatles for their diversity of song topics. They covered a wide spectrum of human emotion on albums like The White Album (The Beatles) and Abbey Road. I think that degree of exploration is hard to find in today’s music.”

Todd is known around St. Louis for his fun and interactive live shows. “I view the stage as my living room and the audience as my close friends.” He engages the audience in witty, personal banter as if he were at a friends house party. “I like to break down the wall between performer and audience, otherwise I feel like I’m playing only to satisfy myself.”

Todd has performed over 400 shows in the last 5 years alone, mostly in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Currently he has taken a break from performing to focus on the recording of his first full length CD due out later this year.
