Bio

Todd Simpson is an 18 year old Senior in High School, who has overcome huge obstacles in his personal life. Todd was born with a Congenital Heart Condition along with other major health issues, Requiring multiple Open Heart Surgeries, Todd was hospitalized over 700 days before his 3rd birthday. Due to complications in his early days he also is severly dyslexic. In spite of these trials Todd has amazed and inspired everyone, from the Doctors who treated him to strangers who hear his story. Todd's activities were limited due to health issues, he could not participate in the usual activities, sports and etc. , yet he found his gifts in music. At the age of eight while his father and friends were playing music Todd found a toy harmonica and came into the room playing it perfectly with the song they were playing. When Todd was asked how he was doing it he said I feel it. Wes,Todds father and bandmate took him to City Stages the next week to introduce him to the Blues. Willie King spotted Todd with his harmonica in his pocket and asked him to hit a couple licks, Todd did and he so impressed Willie that he was asked on stage and played the full 50 minute set. Todd conitinued with his harmonica and continued loving and playing the blues. He has shared the stage at City Stages with blues players James Perterson, Little Whitt and Big Bo. He has played with local musicians such as Topper Price and Rick Carter. At the age of 16 Todd again amazed his friends and family. After hearing a Jimmy Hendrix song he picked up one of his Dad's many guitars and played it like he had been doing it all his life. One month later he played his first show, fronting a band his father put together to back him. Today they play regularly at venues in the Birmingham area and also out of state. They have just returned from the University of Virginia, playing 2 shows for their annual St. Patricks Day Party. Todd has also performed at Morgan Freemans, Ground Zero Blues Club. Todd and his band Mojo Child play a mixture of original songs, fresh interpretations of some of the greats by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix, Allman Brothers, Howling Wolf, BB King. No two shows are alike since Todd plays from the heart and with a gift that allows him to feel the music and really bring the crowd into the moment with him. Todd was recently seen in a Birmingham area club and offered a contract with The Privilege Agency of Beverly Hills. He will be playing venues in the Los Angeles area beginning this summer following his graduation from High School. Todd's shows have been attended by all ages and crosses all genres of music. In a very short time he has created a very loyal and diverse following. Todd is known for spontaneously combining different songs from different eras, even blending old school blues with modern day hip hop...a real crowd favorite.
