"Its not Bedtime Yet"

Todd Tyler's debut album Bedtime on Berkley Street introduces listeners to an artist with a fresh yet familiar sound. Solid songwriting is the cornerstone of this impressive album. With soulful vocals, Tyler wears his heart on his sleeve and invents a new workingman's pop. His southern roots are seen in his flair for memorable hooks and positive rhythms, while glimpses of John Cougar Mellencamp are seen in the hometown imagery peppered throughout the album. For example, on the beautifully crafted "Breathe," Tyler tells us, "that café down on Richland Avenue, well it isn't really missing me or you." On "Wicked Little Sister" and "Burning" Tyler sings with the assertiveness of Gavin DeGraw, but adds his own southern charm. That charm coupled with confidence brings us extended solos and a variety of sounds from orchestral strings to beautiful, melodic piano. The evocative "Pieces of Maria" pairs arresting lyrics with a stunning arrangement to make this rumination on lost romance incredibly rich. The album vamps up on the Allman/Widespread-esque jam "Working in the Shade" but finds a sentimental vein on "Winters Dreams" and the tender "Newport Cigarettes." The variety on Bedtime is exemplary. In this download-rich industry, Tyler reaches back to the novel idea of a complete album: beginning, middle and end. Three acts of finely written poetry set to music.

For the release of his debut album, Bedtime on Berkely Street, Tyler employed his own versatility during the recording process. In addition to writing all songs and music on the record, he also played all guitars, bass and live drums in the studio. Produced by Lauren Stalnecker, Tyler spent one year recording and tweaking the finished product. "Lauren is a talented producer and really understands my style. He has brought some welcomed change to the table and I think everyone will enjoy the progression of the sound." remarks Tyler.
