Toguna

Crossing cultures with an infectious groove, Toguna‘s music is a vibrant fusion of folk rock, reggae and acoustic soul, using instruments such as slide guitar and 12’ strings, rounded off by a soulful vocal trio. With a fresh and relevant sound that comes straight from the heart, always in an open-minded way, this Reunion Island ‘s band has been gathering a versatile worldwide fanbase from the first album "Sans frontières".

Led by the gifted singer/songwriter Sîla, Toguna found its chemistry by touring all over these years, blending its eclectic influences into a sound that is all his own, «entering honorably into this folk reggae family who counts ben harper, patrice.. » (RFI).

Winning the « best band of the year » award at the trophées des arts afro-caribéens 2008 in Paris, the band signed on Sakifo Records, gained a respected live reputation around the globe, in France (fiesta des suds), in Australia, in Japan where the first album has been released.

To produce their second album "In colors", Toguna has been surrounded by amazing musicians ; recorded in London in june 2010 with Soul Sewell on bass and Richie Stevens on drums (Keziah Jones, Joss Stone, Gorillaz, Patrice), with great guests such as the australian singer from Blue King Brown, mixed by Ricky Ojijo (Ayo , Nneka) at Patrice’s studio in Germany and mastered by Tony Dawsey (Jay-Z) in New York. The record was released on november 2011.
