"Tokyo Trendz Infinite Ep Review"

Infinite, is an EP that hits the mark.

The moment the first song, “Infinite Madness” comes on, you get the vibe that you’re in for a trippy adventure. If you’ve heard anything from Tokyo, you know that that’s his style. If his style could take a physical form, it’d be like looking through a kaleidoscope or the very least like the above cover. The vibe of this EP reminds a lot of Tyler the Creator and the Odd Future gang and Kanye West post-Graduation. I asked Tokyo the reasoning behind the EP’s title:

“I named the EP Infinite because I felt I was creating music that was better than just good. It was great. It felt great creating the songs and I thought that Infinite would be a good name to represent what the body of work had became.”

The production on the EP is really good with Tokyo having a hand in all but the intro. Other production credit goes to Gabriel King and SuperRobot King, and a personal favorite of mine, Reggie Volume. As stated before the songs give off trippy vibes but each song is suited for a different mood. This saves the project from being stale. Take for instance the inspirational “Find My Way.” In one way or another, life is about finding your own way and with some well crafted lyrics and production, that message is easily conveyed to the listener. But he proves he can switch it up and have a good time on “Let’s Get Right,” where partying is the theme. It’s the perfect song to play if you’re preparing to head out for the night. Tokyo says:

“I wanted people to visually see the ideas of the songs in their minds when they listened to the Infinite EP.”

Tokyo’s previous project, The Inspired Tape, was good but it had glaring holes in it (of course just from my prospective.) With Infinite, he has not only repaired those holes but he’s also taken what he does best and improved upon that. Tokyo is an artist and has been able to blend both his singing and rapping very well and that’s no different on this project. I asked Tokyo what the summer holds for him:

“As far as the summer, I plan to release more visuals and continue reaching one fan at a time with my music along with creating new material.”

Bio

"This path I travel i swear most wouldn't take it, s**t is crazy it's a slim that chance that I'll even make it but I'm hungry can't you see I want to eat, tired of working 9-5's I'd rather work these f**king beats"

Tokyo Trendz is the definition of the starving artist.  He has an insatiable hunger for success.  Tokyo Trendz (real name Tyrell Dixon) has been immersed in music since an early age.  With a former DJ in a father and a mother who loved to sing, it didn’t take long for him to fall in love with music.  The 21 year-old Hampton, Virginia native doesn’t limit himself to just being a rapper.  He knows the importance of being an artist.  In addition to rapping, he sings on his records, while also producing many of his tracks.  His ability to play the piano, guitar and ukulele adds yet another tool to his Swiss Army knife set of skills.  In the last two years, he’s dropped two projects:  “The Inspired Tape” and his recent EP “Infinite.”  Tokyo’s sound is an infusion of many genres.  Its base is hip-hop but he brings in an electronic, jazz and pop atmosphere that always finds a way to create something special.  Currently unsigned, he is a part of the music collective Mutant Family, a group of highly talented rappers.  Tokyo Trendz has all the tools to become a bright star in music.
