A friend once said to us that ‘Americans will not be told’. However, listening to others is what makes music and people great. We all need humility and occasionally we all need to be told. The ‘Told Americans’ were born from the passion of music and of wanting to connect with people, which means to be political. Ours is not a young person’s political and musical passion, one that rages and burns brightly, but often not for long. Ours is a cold anger, but none the less passionate.

We have played with our musical and extramusical influences with an intention to experiment and look at them from a different angle. We looked more into creating dialogues over matters important to us, than creating complex structures for the sake of it.  The spoken word is an instrument and the instruments a part of the message. Above all we hope we will connect with you, and the humanity in all of us that all too often are crushed, commodified and rarefied by the economic system we live in and the values it promotes.

The trio started working together in late 2015 and recorded their first EP in January 2016. The EP is released by Nub Music. The dates for their UK tour will be announced soon.

Collectively they have performed to venues and festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Café de Paris, Forge, Pigalle Club, Village Underground, Vortex, Southbank Centre, Canterbury International Festival to name a few.
