Bio
Toledo Vader is the brainchild of Jim Dougherty, a Seattle-based singer/songwriter. Inspired by the work of Noam Chomsky, Arundhati Roy, Howard Zinn and others, Jim envisioned Toledo Vader as a vehicle to explore and share this vision of the world through his music - a sort of indie, folk-rock hybrid Rage Against the Machine.
Musically influenced by contemporary artists such as Ani DiFranco, Ryan Adams and Dave Matthews, but also such legends as David Bowie and the Beatles - the Toledo Vader sound is folk-rock, with pop sensibilities and dramatic, heavy lyrics about the state of the world : war, impoverishment, and exploitation.
Toledo Vader's first album, "Gethsemane" is due out in July 2006, self-released and distributed. Jim has a prolific background of writing music spanning almost twenty years prior, self-releasing a solo record in 2000.
