Tom Dutiaume is the youngest of thirteen in his musical Metis family. Surrounded by older siblings playing and practicing for their shows, it’s no wonder Tom picked up the guitar at such a young age. A quick and determined study, Tom was picked up by a talent agent and played his first big show at the Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg at the age of 11! By 20, Tom had already been gigging in several bands, and was recruited by Errol Ranville into the Cweed band, which he became a long time member of. The youngest four Dutiaume brothers formed a family band, the “Younger Brother’s”, in the early ‘90’s and had a very successful run for several years. During this time, Tom was twice awarded the Guitar Player of the Year award by the Manitoba Association of Country Arts (now MCMA). The brothers became known for their multi-instrumentalist show – when they often showcased their musical abilities on several instruments. From this, Tom had honed his skills beyond the guitar to playing fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel, as well as bass and drums.

As the Younger Brother’s came to an end, Tom was in high demand for his versatile skills. He has been a favourite for his Metis fiddle performances and in demand by Metis jigging and square dance groups. He has also worked as a session player for several recording studios and has produced many album projects – including a project for Cweed.

Tom has finally put together a project of his own, culminating the spectrum of his skills as a solo artist, and has written and recorded his first solo album, scheduled for release in spring of 2016. This summer Tom will be on the road to promote this long awaited compilation!
