Bio

After releasing two albums under the pseudonym The Petticoat Tearoom and garnering critical acclaim for his "stirring and well-crafted songs" (HYPE MACHINE), the Washington, D.C.-based songwriter has produced a new meditative and visceral batch of songs for early 2015, steadying himself to further propel his career and generating serious interest and curiosity in the young writer.

The release is a follow up to his 2013 effort, which premiered on American Songwriter to critical acclaim and received nods by publications such as MAGNET and NME, blogs such as Beats Per Minute, and inspired rotation on college and AAA radio, as well as interest in film and TV placement.

Defined by his "warm and intimate vocals" (BEATS PER MINUTE), the album raises powerful questions on opening your own truth and intuition in a world of conformity and yet seemingly with unlimited access to information. With expressive and nuanced compositions like "Up and Away" and  "Love In Her Lies" —the two planned singles— it has "an honesty unavoidable by live performance" (INSOMNIA RADIO) and lyrics which tell the story of searching for purpose in an increasingly complex world. Motta went to Baltimore to record the material with Steve Wright (M.I.A., Jane’s Addiction) at Wright Way Studios.

Born in Maryland and of Caribbean heritage, raised for some time in Puerto Rico, the artist started his exploration into music playing the trumpet in an attempt to emulate Arturo Sandoval. He began writing serious compositions as a young adult, after the natural thirst for expression began to overwhelm him. It never dwindled and even though he worked as a journalist for a time, the most vital outlet was songwriting. He formed a group in Baltimore and began showcasing his music to the public. To this day, his creations still bring him hope and purpose, and help him to reflect on and learn from the world around him.
