Tom Christman and David Lee

Tom Christman and David Lee

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

With lyrics taken from their life experiences, this acoustic duo combines passionate vocals and catchy hooks to create a personal but relatable sound.

Biography

David has been singing in choirs and showers since he was young. Because of the stresses of adolescence, he started writing poems and thoughts. With the advent of MySpace, he was able to find a public outlet for his writing.

Tom has a more formal education in music, as well as a family full of musical influences. He’s been writing songs since high school when he first borrowed his dad’s guitar. After years without many performances, Tom started looking for more opportunities to write and perform original music. This led him to the blog of a new friend to find lyrics. That friend happened to be David Lee.

Tom and Dave have been writing songs together for about 2 ½ years, with Dave writing mostly lyrics and Tom writing mostly music. Their performances include open mics at Lehigh Valley venues such as Porter’s Pub, the Wildflower Cafe, and the Hawthorne House. They have also played shows at Bethlehem coffeehouses – Wise Bean and Wired – and had a recurring gig at Applebee’s Restaurant on Rt. 191.

Their influences include the Ataris, Counting Crows, Sister Hazel, Syd, and Dashboard Confessional (and many more). While they haven’t had trouble finding a sound, Tom and Dave are still looking for a band name.

Lyrics

The Cleveland Song

Written By: Tom Christman and David Lee

Trapped somewhere between paradise and home
I've heard Ohio is for lovers, but I haven't found one

Olivia is calling
just a cry in the distance
a Grayce of things to come
this week I missed the beginning
to be like a bird
my head in the clouds
instead of a thousand miles away

CHORUS
Trapped somewhere between paradise and home
I've heard Ohio is for lovers, but I haven't found one
If only this clock would move like London
in a diner by the sea
I'd be back soon enough

A smooth proposal
waits for me beyond these boarders
a sign of things to come?
just a letter away from home
is hard to take
on a path not my own
right now
I am standing still

CHORUS

going nowhere fast
it's lonely here in Cleveland
grounded by emptiness
beyond the planes of flight

only hours away
my destination waits without me
tomorrow twelve escape
I can think of a better way to spend them
but I'm stuck here
as everyone picks up
and leaves me all alone again

CHORUS

If only this clock would move like London

I Don't Want You Anymore

Written By: Tom Christman and David Lee

So silent
i can hear the click of my watch hands' movement
but it died last week
i roll over in bed to realize that you're not there

i smile, i don't care

i've since changed my mind
i don't want you anymore
i may have at one time
i don't need you anymore
here are your things
and there's the door

CHORUS
It all came to me so clearly
it seems I felf no pain
one day without you near me
it was such a pleasure to be rid of your ways
bringing freedom to my days

i should have taken the hint
my friends never liked you
but I shared so much
I let you in
what a waste it was
for you to (I was blinded by lies)
be a priority

CHORUS

Don't call, don't write, don't try to reach me
I'm happy now you're gone
I wear a smile that you'll never get to see
don't try to change my mind, our time is over
maybe now you're gone I get to live my life for who I want to be

I don't want you anymore
I don't need you anymore
here are your things
and there's the door

Thankful (Beautiful Son)

Written By: Tom Christman

How can I fall asleep
so sure of everything I believe
and wake with so much doubt about the world around me
afraid you won't hear my plea

my lips can say the words I need you
but in my heart I can't seem to hear you calling out to me

CHORUS
Don't turn away, don't turn your back on
my beautiful Son
I'll open your eyes, you are mine
when the days are cold and nights are long
you'll be thankful you can hold on to my beautiful son

How can I fill my days
and feel like everything goes to waste
I try to understand this land I'm wandering
instead of trying to seek your face

CHORUS

and I will hold on to you
to you

my lips can say the words I need you
but in my heart I can't seem to hear you calling out to me

CHORUS

you'll be thankful you can hold on to my beautiful son
you'll be thankful
