Bio
The founder of the band, Tom Smith, is a recovering Vietnam veteran, living on a disability pension due to his PTSD and Agent Orange exposure. Ah "Vietnam, the gift that keeps on giving", Tom is often heard to sarcastically say.
Returning to CT after coming back from Vietnam he returned to college (Geology). He revisited his poems from time to time and bought a guitar("I'm still learnin' " he is fond of saying) and started his journey to healing through music and song. To get over his shyness he played in front of friends sporadically in the 70's -90's.
He has been songwriting ever since 1973-a little at a time. His first album entitled "The Door To Hoa Binh" is finally mixed and ready for mastering. Each song details PTSD, acceptance ("the doorway to bliss"), and healing through music and songwriting. He started playing open mikes in the Asheville, NC area-where he has lived the past 5 years.
Since moving to Asheville he has improved in his musical abilities and confidence in his songwriting skills. The Peacekeepers present goal is to reach out to fellow PTSD survivors and play for that niche.
