Bio

Tommy Ryan was born in Brisbane, Australia. He learned to play the guitar and sing at a very young age. By his late teens Tommy was chasing his dreams to become a full time working entertainer. He continued to pay his dues playing anywhere that he could.

And then came a big break. Tommy entered a TV talent show called “Star Struck”.

"Star Struck was my first taste of fame. It was a nationally televised show judged by Australian music industry heavyweights Ross Fraser (Sony/BMG), Mark Morrissey and Glenn Wheatley." He performed a Johnny Diesel song called “DIG” and won his heat. Six weeks later Tommy returned to Melbourne to battle it out again and reached the finals. He performed an original song called “W84U”. The station put a band around Tommy and they spent an hour rehearsing the song. When it came time to play for real everything just fell into place. To cut a long story short, Tommy won the entire series and claimed the $50,000 cash prize plus a one-year scholarship with Nine Films and Television. Tommy used the money to buy a car, buy a computer, a new guitar, a video camera, and other things that he needed for his music, but the best purchase he made was furnishing his Mum's house.

Off the back of that show Tommy was invited to sing for the Australian Olympians during their national tour and also for the Brisbane Broncos home games at the ANZ stadium.

“I stood in the middle of that football field by myself and sang to 25,000 people and I loved every minute of it! I was even happier when they invited me back to do it all again.”

Even though Tommy was landing gigs and traveling around the country playing at various events while getting offers from different management companies, Tommy felt that something was still missing. Not satisfied that he was a legitimate musician yet, Tommy chose to ignore offers to help him develop a solo career and opted to form a band of local musicians from Redcliffe.

“I wanted to front a rock band and learn how to do it the hard way.” Sure, he was enjoying a minor level of stardom, but because it happened almost overnight, Tommy didn’t learn much from it. Plus he didn’t gain much respect from the record industry as a result, so he formed a band and “Mission Bell” was born. They were together for about 5 years and played all over Austrailia. The band recorded a few songs and even managed to build a healthy little following along the way. Mission Bell played dozens of venues and festivals to thousands of people. Unfortunately the band broke up as the guys had family commitments. The bass player’s wife also fell pregnant with her second child so the band as they say, “Disbanded”.

As a result Tommy took some time off to write and has picked up where he left off in 2000. Luckily for him, he has written more material since the break-up than he ever did while he was in the band.

“The songs are pouring out of me now. Someone turned a tap on and the music hasn’t stopped flowing since. What’s even more encouraging is that I’m loving what I'm writing more than I ever have. I can't wait to share these new songs with the world! I love them and I can‘t tell you how much that helps when you‘re performing. When you love what you‘re singing it translates and affects the audience even more. I also have the freedom to sing about issues that I may not have before.”

Along with Tommy's new focus and direction he now has a strong new management team. Enteramente, located in Austin, Texas will team up with veteran music lawyer Eric Doney (Donahue Gallagher Woods) Mill Valley, California. Eric represents Carlos Santana, Journey, Phish and several other great acts.

So as we enter 2006, Tommy Ryan's Star is shinning brighter than ever.
