"Tommy Thunderfoot and the Accelerators"

THEY SAY: “Playing a unique blend of traditional blues with a modern sound and originals you’d swear you’ve heard somewhere before.”
WE SAY: Full band handling electric blues and boogie; originals and covers - The Charleston City Paper

"'Thunder' in the forecast"

When Tommy Thunderfoot first heard Stevie Ray Vaughn, he admits, he had an initial lack of enthusiasm about what he was hearing. But after experiencing a few of those heart-wrenching moments of the blues himself, Thunderfoot became one of Vaughn's biggest, and perhaps most talented, admirers. Playing classic, soul-spewing, heartbreaking, foot-stomping blues, Thunderfoot has gone from a skeptic of Stevie Ray Vaughn to a dexterous torchbearer of blues, so ablaze with passion and conviction you may need to stand back from the stage during a Thunderfoot performance. - The Post and Courier

"Tommy Thunderfoot and the Accelerators"

Tommy Thunderfoot & The Accelerators — Led by long-haired electric guitarist Tommy Thunderfoot, this local blues-rock trio plays with a riffy style in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble. - The Charleston City Paper

Bio

Tommy Thunderfoot was born to play music. After a brief fantasy of being a drummer, Tommy picked up his father's worn out Kay acoustic and started to copy everything on the radio. In the beginning ,the guitar was a way to attract girls but soon became an obsession .After the initial blues bug bite in 1986,this new musical style began to creep into everything he played.in 1998,on stage in downtown Charleston at momma's blues Palace,in a breakdown of a rockin' little blues number,Tommy couldn't control the stomping of his foot to keep time and the nickname has stuck with him since, seeing him play and stomp around on the stage ,the tranisition was inevitable. Dan Shanahan joined the band in 2011,handling the bass and backing vocals,as well as being a true music lover, he has been a great friend and major part of the sound of this band. Dan Stahl joined the band in 2011 with a personality and drive that is unmatched. Involved in various other projects but still returning to complete the sound and energy of TT&A .The band's influences include but are not limited to:Freddie,Albert, and B.B.(3 Kings),Robert Johnson,T-Bone Walker,Lead Belly,Lightnin' Hopkins,Albert Collins,Eric Clapton,Warren Haynes,Kenny Burrell,John Mayer,Carlos Santana,Keb Mo',John Lee Hooker,Willie Dixon,etc...
