Tom Paul

ChickenIsKickin' Music has brought a new energy and vibe to the Indie Music community by its creator Tom Paul, which was setup in 1991. Since then many positive business alliances and musical collaborations have taken place, which has allowed Tom Paul to place his finger on the pulse of the Indie Music Community.

Recent meetings between a group of local songwriters has resulted in the creation of the Songwriter Circle, which is hosted bi-monthly by Tom Paul. The SW Forum provides a platform where songwriters learn new techniques to improve their craft of songwriting and receive positive, supportive feedback from their peers. Recently the Circle celebrated its 1st birthday and over this short time, has been widely received by all styles of songwriters, and is frequented by the likes of, Tomas Doncker, Hayley Thompson, Kevin Jenkins, Pyeng Threadgill, Keith Fluitt, Aisha Mike, Irving Louis Lattin to name but a few. The postive results of the songs being completed in the SW Circle have reached prominent producers and engineers who have shown interest in recording a collection of songs.

Tom's passion for music was established early on by performing music and dance in his family's Russian Balalaika Orchestra. Here he learned to play a variety of instruments in a rich high school music program outside Syracuse, NY. this prepared him for Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, earning a BA in Voice and Songwriting, with additional studies in Production and Engineering Techniques that have layed the foundation for his musical abilities.

After graduation, Tom made his way back to NYC, where he was soon signed to a music publishing deal with Peer Music Publishing as a staff writer and also worked for legendary concert promoter Ron Delsener as a talent buyer and production coordinator for live shows.

Tom's soulful style comes from the heart and is evident in his passionate vocal delivery in his live performances. Mixing a blend of styles into his songwriting was brought on by his early upbringing outside Philadelphia and cutting his teeth on the local Rhythm & Blues scene in NYC. This landed opening gigs at respected music venues in New York City such as The Supper Club, Irving Plaza, and the Mercury Lounge and he has opened for a number of national acts including Jody Watley, Lisa Stansfield and Rahsaan Patterson.

With his passionate energy and grounded musical development, accompanied with his willingness to contribute, nurture and assist musicians in facilitative manner. Tom has created many opportunities to promote, interview and perform among the Independant Musical Community.
