Bio
Tom Rossi is a composer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose musical style is a global mosaic, a border-dissolving symphony of tones and beats and harmonies from Africa and Asia and the Middle East, South America and the Caribbean and Brooklyn, USA.
?Expeditions to West Africa, Brazil, Cuba and Turkey, have brought great influence and inspiration, giving Rossi a unique insight into music at its most ancient and essential function in the human community. To uplift, to transcend and to help heal.
Upon his return, Tom enrolled at the IM School of Healing Arts in Manhattan where he spent 6 years studying the art of healing and developed ways to channel it into his music. For the past decade, he has attended hospices in the New York area helping relieve the stress and pain of hundreds of cancer and terminally ill patients and their families by singing softly and playing a modal guitar, or an African harp called a kora.
As a recording artist, Rossi’s 2004 debut release, Salma Har, an album of world orchestral grooves and wordless hymns, was featured on BBC/PRI's "The World" with acclaimed Lisa Mullins. Salma Har has gone on to become an international favorite among yoga practitioners for it’s exotic, meditative and uplifting quality.
In 2008, Rossi was commissioned by the healthy lifestyle giant, Gaiam Inc., to create the soundtracks for the entire Mayo Clinic Wellness DVD series and the Ayurveda DVD series. His second album, Connections, was also commissioned by Gaiam Inc. as a follow up to Salma Har, where he continued to explore the art of blending ethnic and western instruments with choral vocal harmonies to create a unique and emotionally compelling style of instrumental music.
Tom has released 11 albums and 6 singles spanning genres from Dance to Relaxation to Singer-Songwriter to Halloween music.
