Tom Stinson - A Season for Peace

I really love his guitar work in here. A fast loose stringed strummer with a fastastic rhythmic ear. The song 'Quiet Strength' is my favorite guitar instumental, I've not enjoyed any other more than this. Stinson also does lyric, but the lyrical and vocals do not yet match his guitar mastery. The instrumentals are the best and they are phenomenal.

"Dave Illman - Program Director"

"A truly gifted player whose vocals provide a steady balance to some masterful guitar work. Love the instrumentals!" - Y92 FM - Lindsay ON

"Reviewer: James Harvey"

From the moment you press play, you will be in awe of this talented Singer songwriter from the west. Many of the songs are hypnotic, even haunting in a way, very much in the vein of a Neil Young or Bruce Cockburn, two great Canadian artists, and Tom is right up there with them. The instrumentals on the album are both complex and beautiful. Tom shows real mastery of his intrument with every note. This collection of songs shows a real gift for song-writing, playing, and arranging. A joy to listen to from start to finish, well done Tommy!

"Okanagan Spotlight By Charlie Hodge"

Tom Stinson
By Charlie Hodge

…Now another local CD that is a must for your music collection this year is one of my favourite new discoveries, Tom Stinson. Tom is an outstanding young man with a spirit and personality to match his tremendous guitar and songwriting talent.
His 15-song instrumental CD Into the Light is a very enjoyable and versatile collection of (largely) original songs. For those looking for a peaceful, enjoyable and soothing CD of acoustic guitar "Into the Light" is a ‘gotta-have’. I’ll write more on this fine CD next month, because I must find space to gush over Stinson’s very latest project- an impressive six-song promotional CD. While the promo six-pack is not for public sale, I’m sure it will be successful in its design and attract quick attention. In which case, his six tunes along with others, will likely be spinning on your CD player fairly soon.
In his latest project Stinson reveals another side of his songwriting skills –a lyrical and vocal skill, not previously displayed in recordings.
The first cut on his latest CD is a pleasant surprise in not only vocal ability but also liquid like lyrics. "Sad Eyes" catches one’s interest right away.
Song two, "Our World" picks it up a measure with another catchy tune filled with smooth vocals and soothing guitar.
It’s vintage Stinson in the tremendous instrumental only "Celebration" – an awesome display of acoustic guitar mastery generated by the sensitive hands of a talented craftsman.
Song four, "Loving Comes and Loving Goes" is one of those tunes that sticks in your brain. It’s a hum along song that weaves its way into your subconscious and pops out at the strangest of times. It’s probably the song that will catch attention for Tom.
One of my favourites is the compelling, magical "Quite Strength", another trademark instrumental guitar classic by this superb, sensitive Canadian artist. It’s drift away in your thoughts kind of stuff. Wonderful.
"Why Cant I" is another example of the lyrical potential of this young man. In a short time we have seen his progression from instrumentalist
to guitarist and now singer. Why Can’t I hints at further tremendous promise on the lyrical side as well.
This short promo CD, designed largely as a label grabber, is bound to catch lots of attention very quickly from a whole bunch of the right people. I have no doubt that Stinson will be back in the running for more Scorpion Okanagan music awards next year with his latest works – and his award nominations could easily transcend to the provincial and the national level. A compliment not only to Stinson’s wonderful talent, but also the various talented people he surrounded himself with including the producers and additional artists.
