Tom Toyama is a jazz vibist, composer and arranger who creatively utilizes his four mallet technique and extended range four octave vibraphone to display the dynamic colors and textural harmonies of the vibraphone.


Tom Toyama is a jazz vibraphonist, composer, and clinician. His performance experience includes Mongo Santamaria, Robert Thomas Jr., Ira Sullivan, Claudio Roditi, Terrance Blanchard, Paquito D’Rivera, Frank Wess, Edgar Meyer, Charnett Moffett, the Natalie Cole Orchestra, Broadway Star Patti Lupone, Japanese koto master Tamiko Asai and shakuhachi master Seizan Sakata. Tom has been featured at events such as the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Clearwater Jazz Festival, Hollywood Florida Jazz Festival, Feierwerk Music Festival in Munich; Arts International Music of the Americas Festival, Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Miami; the Southern Arts Exchange; International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) NYC & Miami Conferences; Summit of the Americas; Black Entertainment Television; WLRN Public Television; and the International Percussive Arts Society Convention, International Puerto Rico and Venezuela Percussion Festivals, the Ecuador Jazz Festival, and others. He has given Vibraphone Mastery Clinics at the: IAJE Conference; California Music Educators Association Conference; University of Miami; Indiana University; University of Illinois; State University of New York-Fredonia; and Indiana State University, Ecuador Quito Music Conservatory. His upcoming 2014 performances include a master class and performance at the International Venezuela Percussion Festival.
