"Tom Wardle - Another Late Night EP 4/5*"

AT the tender age of 22, local troubadour Wardle has joined forces with a crack band, reinvented the concept of the extended play and serves up four slices of self-penned power pop. The mellifluous All I Need showcases our man's vocal maturity: it's dripping in harmonies and has the deftest of guitar solos… a rarity these days. Up next is the funky Be Another Night... all electric piano and attitude (think Good Enough by Dodgy), which begs to be heard poolside. Track three, Let Your Love Shine On is, the sleeve notes tell me, another Wardle original. I say that only because I'd swear it was a long-lost floor-filler from Wigan Casino, complete with an uncanny Weller-esque vocal. My Door Is Open slows things right down and if Tom ever dreams of playing arena gigs (and why not?), then this is the one where the lighters come out. An assured debut, which promises good things to come. - Nottingham Evening Post

"NUSIC Gig In Market Square, Nottingham"

Super slick modster TOM WARDLE took the stage looking sharper than a kitchen knife. The self-described beatle-maniac boomed out his classic pop tunes to The Square with the unmistakeable highlight being his track “Pink Lillies”. Comparisons to Paul Welle aren’t the most accurate guide to the Wardle sound, he’s not as moody. Tom’s charm combined with a natural ability to entertain as well as a fantastic song writing ability make him a welcomed element of the Nottingham music scene, and to today on The Square.

Bio

om Wardle is a singer, songwriter and experienced performer hailing from Nottingham and now based in Battersea, London.

Crafting his rousing stage presence over the past eight years, Tom has racked up well over a thousand gigs across the UK, Southern France and the Caribbean, including the exclusive Parrot Cay resort in the Turks and Caicos. He holds residencies at some of London’s most popular and exciting live music venues including Bunga Bunga (Battersea), Barts (South Kensington) and The Ship (Wandsworth).

Tom’s voice has earned him praise from some of the industry’s top artists including Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, who commended Tom’s single ‘Be Another Night’, and drummer-turned-producer Neil Conti (Prefab Sprout, David Bowie), who produced Tom’s latest EP ‘She Kissed Me’. The EP, due to be released in May 2015, features an acclaimed roster of musical talent including Conti on the drums and members of Van Morrison’s and Jools Holland’s bands. Grammy-winning sound engineer Tim Young mastered the EP at Metropolis Studio in London. The single ‘She Kissed Me’ has already gained national radio play on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing, with presenter Alex Lester calling it ‘just gorgeous’. The follow up single 'Summer In Bloom' is set to be released on 18th May 2015.

As a songwriter Tom has worked with Ivor Novello winner Tim Kellett (Simply Red, Olive) and Stereophonics’ producer Steve Bush, who co-wrote Tom’s song ‘Be Another Night’ (2009), available on iTunes and Spotify.

Prior to ‘Summer In Bloom’ Tom produced two additional standout EPs: ‘Another Late Night’ (2009) and ‘Sweet Insanity’ (2012) featuring the fan favourite single ‘Pink Lilies’. The ‘Pink Lilies’ video stars Hollyoaks’ gorgeous Wallis Day.

Tom’s vast back catalogue of songs is licensed across Europe and around the world by Emerge Media, playing in over 8,000 different venues, outlets and public spaces seven days a week.
