"Bred To Jam for Bread Project"

Recently, this group of merry musicians banded together to compile "Bred to Jam for Bread," which features their own original music, lyrics and songs. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Mason County food banks.

The CD will be available for sale in December at Robinhood Restaurant and pub, Robinhood Restaurant and Pub, Robinhood Village, Hood Canal Communications, Cameo Boutique in Union, , Smoking Joes Kitchen, Loans 4 You in Shelton, Pat's Little Red Barn, Northwest Bronze and JR’s Hideaway in Belfair. It is currently available on-line for $15.00.

Local musician, songwriter and book author Tom Wilson produced the CD. He operates a 24-track digital recording studio from his home and is also the project Engineer. Last March, Wilson approached Robert Poole the host of the Wednesday Night open mic, about producing the benefit CD.

Thirteen of the musicians and songwriters stepped forward to donate their time and original works. In addition, both Wilson and Poole perform on the CD, which features folk/folk rock, some light blues and light reggae.
"It's basically easy listening," Poole said.
Wilson tapped other local talent and asked Joni Cagwin to head up a short list of volunteers. The goal of these "modern day buccaneers" was to obtain the funding necessary in order to manufacture the CD, which would enable them to give back the money raised from the sale. "A percentage from the sales will be held for remanufacturing; and the CD will then be self-sustaining,: Wilson said.

Cagwin worked closely with Tom's wife, Aileen Wilson, to get the funding. "...I wanted a group of business-minded people to ramrod the marketing, financial and distribution (end) of stuff. I asked for volunteers because they are always the right people," Wilson said.
Poole, who is featured on the CD cover dressed as the legendary bandit Robinhood describes his alter ego as a modern-day "rock 'n roll Robin Hood." He is also the Project Coordinator.

Wilson's alter ego is not unlike that of the heroic outlaw Will Scarlet, who was the gang's chief engineer and key to many a Robin Hood plan. Committed and hopeful, Scarlett's character is seen as that of a person who wants to make sure the people of England no longer suffered, and was fundamental to the gang's basic mission: take from the rich and give to the poor.
Poole grew up in Tacoma, and after high school his early musical career led him to Hollywood where he jammed with the Byrds and the Youngbloods in the 1960's.
By day, he works as the Maintenance Engineer at the Robinhood Village where he works closely with Ned Kjeldgaard and Suzi Strygar, who took over as the new proprietors of the lodge about nine months ago.
Robert is the champion of Robin Hood Village and he and the other artists on the CD they created to benefit the local food banks...embody the spirit and legend of Robin Hood," said Strugar.

Bio

I have performed in regional northwest venues for many years. I am a prolific songwriter with over one-hundred songs and nine albums to date.

I recently produced the album, "Bred to Jam for Bread" due for release on 18 December 2008. The CD is already up for sale on SnoCap at www.myspace.com/bredtojamforbread
Producing this album for a cause so fundamentally human while getting to work with twelve different songwriters was educational. I don't believe I have ever learned as much about my craft as I did while working on this project; a wonderful and enlightening experience.
