Tongue in Public

Emily and Erik met in 2003 when she auditioned for his then band back in Michigan. Things didn’t work out at the time, but two years later Emily and Erik found themselves sitting at the same bar and reconnected. After both ending up in Brooklyn, they decided to really see what they could do togther and began writing some songs. The “band’s” first show was booked with zero completed songs and only two members. That’s when Erik enlisted his neighbor, Mike Szkolka, to play at the show. Mike planned on just playing that one show, but three years later is still driving the band with his melodic bass lines. Rounding out the band and saving them from years of a revolving door of drummers is Alex Cohen, who joined to support their debut album, “Welcome to the Johnsons.”
